Dash pad

Old member back again after a few years of hiatus. Great to see site is growing. I have a question about removing padded dash pad. If I take it off first what is best way and then is it the same as a dash without pad? I have another dash without the pad but don't want to switch them out I don't have...

Gas tank

Anyone had any experience with a replacement gas tank for a 66 F100 form LMC Truck. I have tried cleaning the original and now have had to replace fuel pump and clean system again. Best option is going to be new tank. Just wondering if anyone has had any problems or the quality of a LMC tank.

dotcentral,
You mentioned your headlight switch. If this is bad your instrument lights will not work. There is a spring in the light switch that can go bad. Check that first. If gas gauge is bad I may know where there is another for 65 -66 dash.
Good Luck!

One other thing that might have something to do with this as it started happening about the same time. I installed a new speedometer cable. I don't have the retainer bolt tight yet because I went out of town before I finished. Could that have been a ground between the transmission and back of cluste...

Electrical problem.

Alright heres a real dilemma I can't figure out. Hopefully someone has some ideas of here to look. First dash lights didn't work. Got a new headlight switch from NAPA and installed great and the lights work. (If the instrument panel is not installed) As soon as I install the panel on the dash the li...

It has a 240, 4-speed. It keeps me busy and out of trouble. Just picked up a new (old) seat today that is in much better shape then mine. Also picked up another painted instrument panel that I don't really need. I saw a 4x4 Unibody last night. I followed him for a while then he headed out of town No...

Under the Dash Pad

I am sure someone has replaced the padded dash. I have a 66 with a padded dash. The padding is cracked and needs to be replaced. I don't know if I want to replace it. A lot of the dashes look nice and clean without the pad. My question. Is there two different dashes or if I take the pad off can I fi...

Tire and wheel size

I need some advice. I am looking at keeping the original rims and tires as an option on my 66. I would also like to put a set of chrome wheels on at times. Looking for any advice from guys that have custom wheels as to what size tires and wheels work best. I do not have power steering, is there a co...

Well, the dishsoap trick worked. Thank you Oldtrucks.

The rest of the suggestions also sound good.

Thanks again to everyone that responded. Saved me some good money for a new tank. Now I can spend it somewhere else on the truck.

Happy New Year!

Ice, I think you are right. I looked at the switch and there is a coil (spring) hanging out and turns around the switch body when I turn the dimmer. This doesn't look good for the switch. I guess its time to order a new one. I will check at Napa. That would be great if I don't have to buy one. Oh ye...

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have it soaking in Dish Soap overnight since that was the easiest. I did speak to a radiator shop and they wanted it steam cleaned before I brought it in since they didn't have a steamer. I will let you know how it works out tomorrow. Thanks again for all the sug...

Cleaning a gas tank

I assume someone has probably touched on this before but I can't find it. I had a plugged pick up tube. The PO left gas in for years and I have now emptied the tank and luckly got the tube cleared. Can anyone tell me the best way to finish cleaning out the gas tank before I put it back on the truck ...

Instrument Lights

Hey everyone. I am new and looking for answers. I am having problems with Instrument panel lights. I thought they may be burned out so started with replacing a couple and still no light. The ALT. and OIL lights work along with blinkers but the instrument lights on the bottom corners don't. Any ideas...
