Re: '64 3 speed trans. ID please

I am not good at uploading pictures. My photobucket account name is mrknudson if that makes it any easier to look at my photos of the transmission in my parts donor. They are too large of a file to upload on to this forum. Plus you can see another picture of my '63 unibody project in the before stag...

Identify a Equa-Loc rear end

On the '63 and '64 2 wheel drive F100's is it possible to identify a Equa-Loc rear axle that is missing it's tag from a non-Equa-Loc axle with out disassembly?

'64 3 speed trans. ID please

I have a '64 F100 long wheel base parts donor with the original 292 Y block V8 and a 3 speed manual transmission with column shift. How many different 3 speed transmissions did Ford offer in 1964? And how do I identify them? I do not have the warranty plate with this pickup so I can not tell the tra...

Re: Seat foam and upholstery when you can't sew

Another tip or trick is if you don't have burlap available, use a heavy layer of vinyl or a canvas material for the first layer on the springs. And if your a full grown individual as I am, double it up for two layers for extra support. Thats what my upholestry guy did for my '56 F100 seat.

Re: Rear drums are sticking

I have had a similar experiance. When the rubber hose deteriates internally it can act like a one way valve. allows the brake fluid to go to the brake cylinders as designed but not return (release) keeping the shoes in contact with the drum. Very frustrating to get it to duplicate the problem when s...

Re: 223 oil

It's a real concern, I haven't seen non-detergent oil in a long long time. Do you know the history on the engine in question? Like approximate miles on it and if it has had routine maintenance done to it and what oil brand and weight the PO used. Sounds anal but it might give you piece of mind as to...

Re: 223 oil

I'm assuming you don't have the swings in temperatures that we do up north. And I only drive my old cars during the spring thru fall due to salt on the roads. You could get by with straight 30W with the use of the zddp additive. And I change my oil & filter every fall due to lack of miles put on...

Re: Patina sounds great doesn't it.

Don that pickup is sweet! thanks for sharing the pics with us. A friend of mine found an old '55 cheby 2 door sedan and fixed it up to "look like patina" he did such a good job at it I had to give it a close look a second time. The original 6 cylinder is putting out a lot of smoke, this wi...

Re: 223 dizzy swap help needed

John - I put in the pertronix ignition on my '56 223 6 cylinder 2 years ago and am very happy with the improvment in how well it runs and accelerates. I also have a K&N air filter on it and this past summer I had Daytona Parts restore a spare stock Holley carburator for it. And am very happy wit...

Re: Chrome Shops?

The sioux city address for Sioux Plating is 357 Wesley Pkwy. Phone number 712-258-5995, that is their bodyshop supply outlet. They cater to the body shops in the midwest and possibly one near you. Possibly see if they will pickup your bumper and drop off at your nearest bodyshop or retailer near you...

Re: Rear fender flares

The rear rims look wider than the front rims. Possibly widend the wheel tub area to accept the wider rims and tires. Otherwise looks like a restored pickup. It's different looking.

The SOHC powered slick was a white one. I was parked a little farther up Grand Ave. behind him with my '56 big window on friday. Friendswood Texas doesn't appear to be far enough south for me to retire to by the looks of that GT-500. I would be honored to be considered the next custodian of that GT-500. Up here The Man puts the sodium/brine solution (salt) on so heavy that after the storm and melt and dry up the streets and h...

Re: igniter install...help

Hey unibody madness can you share the trouble shooting tips with all of us on the forum, please. I installed a pertronix set up on my '56 F100 with the stock 223 6 cylinder engine. It is still a cold blooded engine initially, but when warmed up good, and I stick my foot into it, the engine rpm just ...
