Re: Correct original wheels for '65 F250

Well thank god we got those terms straightened out! My doctor told me until we did, I was in grave danger of death from a stroke or heart attack. Now I can rest easy. Thanks, Lyman. Well, obviously you don't care but I am think it was pretty important to the OP as he asked and was given incorrect i...

Re: Correct original wheels for '65 F250

My 65 F250 came with the safety ring rims = ring on outside of rim. If a shop had a cadge to air them up in they would be fine. I have seen the tire guys use an in ground lift set on top of them while airing up. I personally have not seen an actual split rim on a 3/4 ton = two piece rim. As far as ...

Re: Correct original wheels for '65 F250

My '65 F250 CC, Camper Special has nice aluminum wheels (8 lug) right now but I would like to replace those with the sort of wheels that would have been original to the truck. Someone told me never to put split rims (which I think would be original) on the truck because it is very hard to find tire...

Re: Question on crew cab value

I think an important point to answering this question is where is it. West coast prices are always lower than east coast and around here I would expect to spend between $2500 and $3500 for a driver crew but a regular cab has a tough time getting $1500. On the other side of that, a finished restored ...

Re: Stock parts pricing?...

Depends on the price of steel. The rear end should be wrth something to someone, but I was not aware ford ever put dana 44s in 1966 f100s. Std was the 9 inch with a dana 60 2 as the traction lock option on camper specials. I've always upgraded to disks over drums. Doesn't hurt to try. Dana 44's wer...

this guy wants $2K for the uni and another $2K for the 390 not installed. yours runs and drives with a 390 i have to think you have at least the same $ value he is asking for. http://farmington.craigslist.org/cto/3876901053.html Sorry, I can't agree with that logic, he wants 4K for everything and h...

Re: Carb Swap and Engine Paint

You may want to do some research on that intake. They actually produce less power than the stock iron 4V. Jay Brown did a lot of dyno tests and that intake was just below the stock C4 iron intake for power (which says something! LOL). It is lousy for HP but good for torque but the stock intake was b...

Hawkrod? I dont have a clue of what you are asking. But i, like you and 'Paul', am damn curious to what i actually do have. I will not take any mans word for it, whether he be a good machinist or not. My downfall is my total lack of knowledge on these old Fords. Something that i just very recently ...

In 66 Tinted glass was most definitely an option and is pretty common around here. If you look it up in the Ford parts catalog it is listed. Hawkrod

Re: 352 Heads...........Ughh!

I am curious, none of your posts show head numbers and there are actually no heads that are 390 only so how do you know those are 390 heads? 66 352 and 390 used the same heads and except for GT heads that have a different exhaust bolt pattern, the heads used on a 390 were also used on whatever other...

Re: Is a T5 a T5 a T5?

T5's come in different flavours, a Ranger trans would be a light duty one. The main differences are world class versus non-world class (the world class are the newer redesigned ones with higher load ratings because the old ones broke all the time) and the other main difference is gear ratio and this...

Yeah, the Ma Bell boxes are the best. I have one and they were well built and cool looking. They are common in some areas but still bring really good money. Hawkrod

Re: Choke stove question....

Just a quick note to help anybody who needs it, the two holes in the manifold are in and out for the choke air. Normally the carb will have two fittings, one on the choke and on in the air horn area. The choke has a built in vacuum leak, when it is on, which draws air through the tube into the choke...

Re: Steering Wheels

Yes, any 67 and older Mustang steering wheel physically fits a stock Slick steering column. There are different turn canceler situations depending on years but it can all be worked out easily. In 68 the Mustang steering column got larger in diameter. The wheel will still bolt on a slick but looks od...

Re: FE in a 64 F100

You can bolt a 390 in as mentioned and the parts are not that tough but are not that cheap to find. You can't use the later trans as the bellhousings with mounts only work with the older 3 and 4 speeds with a longer input. I do have a 64 style and a 65 style available. The 64 uses the older style 4 ...

Re: steering column

The aftermarket ones will work fine but you have to adjust your column after you install the new one. Loosen all of the column clamps (and if it is a 65/6 the clamp on the lower shaft) and move your column down to make more clearance. If it hasn't been apart in a long time it may not be the simplest...

Re: vin tag

Just a bit of trivia, a door tag is not a VIN tag, it is a warranty tag. 68 was the first year that Ford put VIN tags on trucks and even then not all of them got a tag for some reason. The door tag was for warranty information for dealers which is why they are not welded on or secured with tamper pr...

Re: Source for hood hinges that last?

Hood up in the back is usually not bad hinges, it is usually bad adjustment. Although it is counter-intuitive, loosen the hinges and lift the hood as far up and back as you can and then tighten the hinges. I think you will see the back sink down. Watch carefully to make sur you don't hit the cowl bu...

Re: Belt Alignment problems

Yeah, I don't know where you got that PS pulley but it isn't for that engine. Those pulleys were only used on 1970 and newer smallblocks and 429/460. For that setup you should have a much smaller pulley that cups forward and is marked 6AA. The alternator alignment is probably an issue of the wrong s...
