I bought a truck with a 240 same as the 300 but with less strokena couple weeks ago.. It had two busted compression rings... number 6 exhaust lobe was in the oil pan... it did 65 on a 50 mile trip back home.. never hesitated.. even went to work and pulled my box out of the shop in traffic no problem...

sounds like a weak coil or a bad pickup coil if these have pickup coils? replaced the pickup coil in my ihc with a pertronix coil thing and eliminated the brain box... runs great and haven't had any problems with it.. I'd try checking the resistance between everything with a meter.

dunno about the ran when parked thing... gotta go check it out when i get a free day... if it runs and isn't to rusty.. it may be an option

That's sort of what I figured, got another 66 sitting at the house (parts truck). Major thing is if it'll crank and make it to the shop, lol. It'd make a nice cruiser. Dropped with some cragars and a sloppy cam, roller 5.0 would give me liveable fuel mileage.

Looks like an oldschool motorcraft to me.. Maybe a holley. 2 barrel, 250-350 cfm. Are there any numbers anywhere on it?

Looks real nice effie. If it's getting painted black I'd like to see pics. Planning on gettin a 66 shorty in about two months. Gonna paint it high gloss black with a 68 thunderjet stroker, I really want to make it into an oldschool hotrod.
