Re: If you had about $500 and could pick any used engine ...

Most of these guys are ignoring what you said about economy. If you want a economical, dependable engine, I vote for the Buick 3.8 V6. They have been around for years so they should be plentiful in the salvage yards. I sold my '99 Lesabre last year it had 278,000 miles and would still get over 30 mp...

Re: Installing truck headers on an FE engine

That's the reason I don't have headers on my 66 F-100. Another thing is the header is very close to the starter and the heat will damage the starter. I've heard Sanderson makes a shorty header for the FE that will not interfere with the starter

Re: Vinyl covered dash

To all that are saying, "you have to remove the windshield", I say BS. I removed my padded dash pad and had my upholsterer cover the pad. It turned out really well.

I upgraded my '66 style side tail lights about 30 years ago. I got tail light housings from a '67 style side that have built in back up lights. I'm sure others have done this, but I haven't seen it mentioned here. I also installed blue dots about 20 years ago. The cops haven't said anything yet.

I have all 4 used from an old parts truck that I will let go for $500 + shipping. I normally wouldn't recomend used brake parts, but these have been inspected and cleaned inside and out with rotor wash I had left over from my Army days.

A couple of weeks ago I saw the sharpest crew cab '66 i have ever seen. It was going down hwy. 29 in Anderson, SC. I believe it was only passing through, as I haven't seen it since. It was white dualie with one of those custom trailer towing beds that you see on late model trucks. It had 500 in the ...

I have used Icemans method many times with great success. You don't have to use a socket, anything that is close to the size of the hole in the bushing will work. I like to use an old pilot shaft myself. It might be a little messy, but I never worked on show vehicles. The ones I worked on were dirty...

The other guys are correct, the Hurst "Master Shifter" is definitely the best. The stick bolts on and the long one works real well with a bench seat. I have had one in my '66 for over 20 years and over 300,000 miles and it still works great. You can replace the bushings and it feels like a...

Log in problem

I can't log in using the log in button(?) at the top of the page. I know my user name and password. However, I can go to the bottom of the page and log in. Does anyone else have this problem??

What was problem with plastic bushings? I put a set in my '66 and ran for many years (over 100,000 miles) without any problems. They are much easier to install as they don't require reaming.

I looked in Carpenter's and Carolina Classic's catalog. NPD was the only one that had an accelerator cable listed. You can also try Lokar for hotrod not original cables.

We don't have no stink'n inspections in South Carolina. We did from mid 60's 'til the early '90s. There were to many shops ripping off people with headlight aiming and a lot of other BS. Good riddance.

You said that the only thing still attached is the steering box. Take it off and get a power steering box from any F-150 up to '79. It's the perfect time to do it, and you know you want PS.

Try a clutch fan or electric fan. I put a clutch fan on my 390 and I could tell a difference. I never actually checked the mileage, but it was a noticeable improvement.

Which Alternator????

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find the answer here. I have a '66 with a 390. I want to install a alternator with the integral regulator. Is there a alternator that bolts up to the original brackets? If so what did it come in? What about the existing regulator wiring? Any help woul...
