On that nickname, I thought I heard Cheeky Bugger. Might need to get an Aussie ruling on that. But Thinking about Chickie Booger could work too.

You might consider taking it out without the tranny. Remove bolts at front end of bell housing. You won't have to mess with cross-members and it comes out of the engine bay a lot easier, not to mention less weight dangling from the lift chain. I got mine out solo that way. Step by step instructions ...

Surplus Part - need some help

Found this extra part in the garage after my rebuild. Can anyone tell me where it goes? At Pizza in KC Tues night Gerald said a BFH might be handy -- does this one look about right? http://cid-01774c138b7f7ba9.photos.live.com/self.aspx/Slickstock%2010/Jb%20Engine%203.JPG My hat's off to all of you t...

I believe the 'Metal Ready' you asked about is the pre-primer product from POR15. There's a good description of it on their web site: http://www.por15.com/ As Max indicated you need to neutralize the phosphoric acid residue on the block after using cleaners / strippers. That's what Metal Ready does....

Short circuit locator

Here's a trick I picked up from Fred Martin for tracking down short circuits single handed. A while back all the rear lights went out on my 66 with a blown fuse. As soon as replaced the fuse blew again. I went about tracing wires looking for pinches or bare spots. Findiing none, began disconnecting ...

Sounds great - count me in. Good that you've got the adult beverage thing figured out - thinking man. Not that that's critical or anything.

Aero - using the plunger switch under the dash sounds like a nice clean fix. What did you have to remove to get that in? Do you have a picture of it?

Replacement fenders

I know I've seen some discussion here about best source for replacement body parts but not much luck finding it. Now dealing with rust on lower rear corners of front fenders. Choice is to cut out rust and weld in repair panel vs. complete new fender. LMC and Carpenter both list import replacement in...

Could be worse. In fact, if it makes you feel any better there's an old song precisely about that.... I WISH I WAS IN PEORIA (As sung by Billy Jones & Ernest Hare, 1926) SPOKEN: All hands on deck! (Aye, aye, sir!) Man the lifeboats! (Aye, aye, sir!) VERSE 1: S-O-S! S-O-S! Captain, we are lost. O...

Desperately Seeking Short

Anybody have any magic tricks to share for finding short circuits? The 14A fuse on the turn signal/ brake lamp circuit blows when turning ignition on. I've started disconnecting wiring harness connections (tail lamp connector, steering column turn signal switch connector) attempting to isolate the p...

2 bulb taillights - original?

Taillights on my '66CS have 2 bulbs. Top one is double filament and is handling all the chores -- tail lamps, parking lights, brakes, turn, emerg flasher. Bottom one is single filament and isn't connected to anything. Wiring harness has only two leads going to rear -- just like the wiring diagram sh...

I can confirm Ezernut's info. Kansas City plant is still cranking out F150/250's (48 per hour, I think). I worked on that line in the 70's, building bumps!

I bought that 3 ton Craftsman set about 5 yrs ago. No issues with leaks or holding pressure and it has good control for lowering. Only complaint is the handle pulls out when you're pulling it around. I agree with prev post that bigger jackstands would be better for truck use, but these are good for ...

ignition resistor

The ignition resistor was originally wired into the ignition circuit to drop voltage in the primary ignition circuit (in front of the coil) from 12V to about 9V. The lower voltage reduces arcing across the points in normal engine operation and extends ignition point and condenser life. For the start...
