Re: No rear brakes

From what you described it sounds like the rears just need adjusted out, since you were able to bleed the system there’s pressure back there so your lines must be good......I think these slicks never came with self-adjusters.... I bled the brakes with the drums adjusted tight, then backed them off u...

No rear brakes

About 8 years ago I converted my 66 F100 short to disc brakes using 70's parts. I was never very happy with the results, but it stopped ok and I didn't have time to fool with it anymore. Fast forward to last month, my other truck was down and I had to pull a heavy trailer to the dump. I could not st...

Debriefing - 3 spd trans trouble

I figured out what tore up my 3 spd. When I crawled under the truck to start pulling the trans, I noticed an 1/8" gap between the bellhousing and the gearbox. The head of the bottom bolt on the passenger side was broken off and the top bolt was missing. The other two were VERY loose. This wiped...

Who's going to Cruising the Coast this weekend?

I might try to get over there (depends on work). Not sure where to go or what to do. I don't plan to register... just want to look (drool) and maybe meet some slicksters.

Re: 3spd trans trouble

I've found out about the differences already. The only thing I can find around here is completely worn out, has a bolt on yoke and is apparently worth its weight in gold. I need one with a slip yoke. Hopefully I will find one between here and north AL. I'm planning a trip up there in a couple weeks.

I wish it were that easy. Lube is good. Though, it is leaking out the front seal now.

3spd trans trouble

Hey fellas! It's been quite a while since I've been around the site. New format looks good! The truck's been running great since I finished the rebuild last year. In fact, it's back in daily driver service (the Jetta finally crapped out). I started noticing some symptoms from trans in the last week....

Back on the road with pics and video

I thought you guys might enjoy a video. I've been driving the truck to work for a little over a week now. It's running and driving very well. The power steering and power disc brakes are a vast improvement in driveability in town! I am still having a bit of trouble with air in the power steering flu...

The fluid is type F. Bleeding procedure is wheels elevated, engine running, and turn the steering lock to lock.

Trouble with air/foaming in power steering

I finally got the front end aligned and the exhaust put on the '66. I've put about 100 miles on it. Every time I drive it at highway speed for a few minutes the fluid foams up and overflows the resevoir. This does not happen at low speeds. The system is the saginaw type from a '72 F100. All the comp...

Someone at Slickstock 1 made 20 miles per gallon on a sweet running fe352 if I recall correctly. All the other guys in the convoy were climbing over and under his truck looking for the hidden tank.. I am not sure some people ever did believe it, but we sure talked about it a lot that weekend. I've ...
