Re: electronic ignition choices

The conversion for a stock distributor will be cheapest. If the distributor is in good condition, this may be the best option. You probably won't notice a difference in performance or economy with a basic conversion unless the distributor is worn. The magnetic pickup will be more forgiving than poin...

Re: Bonneville Speed Week 2021

Y-Block Guy hasn't raced the truck in a while. He's switched to a roadster. I think he went something like 196mph this year, of course, with a Y-Block. I think he got the truck over 150mph. but decided that he needs something with better aero.

Re: HOA Madness

It might be wise to consult a lawyer, instead of continuing to ignore it. Whether you or anyone else agrees with it or not, it seems like they may be planning to take action. As far as the ccr with the closing documents, if that is from the original HOA, which no longer exists, if I understand thing...

Re: Electric crate motor swap into a skick.

Kind of related side note. I have been wanting to buy a new V8 Mustang or similar but not so sure now. I am wondering how obsolete it will be in 2 or 3 years. There will still be plenty of I.C.Engines around but how much is a 400+ HP Mustang worth when Ford comes out with a 900Hp electric? I don't ...

Re: mono leaf springs

I've had mono's up front for the past 18 years, daily driven. What I remember (be skeptical of an 18 year old memory) is that it handled a little better, maybe rode a little better, but still very much a solid axle truck, they won't do magic. I'm not going to pretend to know the technical pros and c...

The one pictured is for a car. It will require another hose, probably a universal one.

If the radiator hose outlet is at 12 o'clock and it is for a y block, it will work

Re: thermostat housing

The difference is the radiator hose connection. A truck's housing has that at 12 o'clock, viewed from the front.

The water pump bypass nipple is in the same location relative to the thermostat for all Y-Blocks.

Re: Clutch Pedal rubber bumper?

I ordered some rubber tube from McMaster-Carr with the intent of making that work. Not sure if that is the technical term. It is a rubber cylinder with a hole through it. Then I realized I can simply turn the bumper around to an area without wear so I never tried to use it.

Re: Ignition switch

On the subject of switch bezels, I've acquired a used original and finally, what I thought is a reasonably priced, NOS bezel. Both the used original and NOS bezel are very close dimensionally, as you would expect. They average out to about .380" from where the smaller "pin" of the ign...

Re: Rear Wheel Cylinder Interchange

For those who want to know, the answer is yes, they bolt right in. I'll update later if any problems arise as a result of using bigger cylinders but it seems good so far. They're used '75 on in the 1/2 ton trucks so it seems like they should be a good fit with disc brakes up front, same size drums a...

Re: Truck stumble, coil voltage issue?

Maybe a previous owner didn't know it used a resistor wire and installed the resistor, thinking it was missing, effectively doubling up on the resistance.

Got it. It's a step up from what I had. I still want to track down a better one but at least this one is correct and hopefully works where the repros do not. So if anyone finds one let me know.

Re: Pictures of pedal linkage needed six cylinder

I'm sure someone can get pictures but you can also try looking in a shop manual. I don't know if there will be a picture of the linkage specifically but you may be able to see it in a picture which is being used to illustrate something else. If you don't have a shop manual, get one. One of the best ...

My '61 has a 2.75" bushing at the front of the rear springs. Not sure about the rear. Are you looking at it in the correct orientation?
