Re: Help with a L-series 750 truck

Single axle dump truck. L750 24000 lb gvw 148" WB I hadn't thought about the rear end being locked up. I'll put it on the list to check. I've heard good things about the Ford frames and it didn't show any signs of stress. But it is a dump truck so it has likely looked like a pretzel once or twi...

Re: Wipers won't turn off

In normal operation the motor continues to run until it finds the park switch (internal to the motor assy). Your switch isnt getting flipped so it never parks. Sometimes they just need a cleanup and re-grease or possibly a JB Weld repair to a worn surface. The good news is the motor still runs and t...

Re: Help with a L-series 750 truck

Thanks Michelle I appreciate any help you can provide. I would Ebay something but the sellers don't seem to know the difference between a delivery van and a long haul truck. I have another truck question. It has 10.00-20 rubber all the way around. The rear duals have a scuffed appearance on the trea...

Help with a L-series 750 truck

I just bought a L750 dump truck for my son. I looks like it has the 391 and a 5-2 trans. It's a 74 and seems to be a very solid old truck. It's not a slick but you guys are a great resource so I thought I would see if you could help. I need a wiring diagram and an air diagram. The headlights were a ...

Re: lwb uni (61-63) on wagon frame

My dad put a Studebaker pickup on a wagon frame. 429 C6 9" It is a good fit except for the steering gear box. The two shafts are off by almost a foot. He still hasn't found an answer.

I viewed this as an opportunity to review my own security. I goolgled my email and found 51 pages worth of hits. Yahoo was way too willing to give me up. I tightened up my settings so maybe it will help. Thanks for the diligence.

Sounds like a hydraulic lifter went flat to me. It is the only part that I know of that can go flat /get pounded down and stuck in the old sludge then pump back up and start working again. (but usually not without some help) It definitely makes lots of noise and power loss. It also happens at half t...

The binder in high heat paint needs to be thermally cycled at least once to cause the binder to flow and cure. Choosing the wrong product could mean that the paint will easily dissolve with a solvent wipe or even a good degreaser. If your engine compartment is getting hot enough to bubble the paint ...

I might make a stick to use as a feeler to check for a diameter difference.

Did you check it with the points closed?
Open points don't draw any current
no current = no voltage drop

Your PCV valve is cracked or loose and bypassing fresh air into the intake. It should not be gathering oil or making different noises when you wiggle it. If you plug the steel end with your finger and wiggle the valve it should not be leaking. The modulator on the transmission is blown or the lower ...

Most of the modern PCV valve just use gravity instead of a spring so when you make the adapter make sure you mount the valve properly.
The high vacuum at idle should pull up the weight and restrict the flow of fumes.so that it will still idle. Any valve sized for a V-8 should work fine.

6-71 detroit buildup

I am thinking about a truck project and putting it together in my head at the moment. Possibly an old fire truck or an old Peterbilt. Something with a long nose and a center hinged hood no tilt nose no fiberglass. I want to power it with a 6-71 Detroit I have lots of cores available and they have a ...

I drilled and tapped a Dana 44 for an 1/8" pipe plug. It was fast and the oil flushed out any chips. The drain time is fine and the smaller size made it easy to accomplish.

The one I used to drive would do 70 on the straights. You get used to blindly shifting the gears. You just have to will it into the hole! One night after a high speed run down a twisty two lane with a crazy captain in the passenger seat I found the drivers side front brake hose weeping when we got b...
