The Slick Made the Trip

For anyone interested I drove my '64 F100 from Enterprise, KS to Cookeville, TN 804 miles give or take with no issues. She'll remain here until I can work on her from top to bottom:) It was like traveling back in time: no power steering, no power brakes, single brake cylnder, lap belt and all. It wa...

Mounting for a generator/alternator conversion

Didn't want to reinvent the wheel if I didn't need to, I have a 64 f100 223 with a generator. Obviously the generator is longer than an alternator. I had thought about using the current bracket with a longer bolt and a homemade sleeve to mount the alternator. Is there a better way or does this sound...

Fendermender, it will stay in Cookeville, I on the other hand will continue down to Peachtree City, Ga. I hope to plink away at it piece by piece as time and trips allow. I thought it would be fun to teach myself and my son and daughter over time. There 4 and 2 respectively so it might get done by t...

It runs!!!! :) I was able to pick up a regulator and was reminded to polarize it then drove it to the tire shop and got tires. She ran great the whole time! Now, I need to replace the front motor mount...it's almost not there.

Thanks! My wife got the mail yesterday and I got my LMC mag this morning. Yeah, I am trying to get it in reliable working order to drive it to my Dad's shop in Tn. My hope was/is that I can get it up to running reliably cheaper than renting a truck and trailer to haul it. Once there we'll start take...

My new job is in Peachtree, I actually grew up in Cookeville, Tn so it's like coming home almost. The slick is a new addiction, a friend couldn't take it with him on a move so I bought it to help him out and I think I am in love:) It was a farm truck that his grandpa bought in Texas so it's nothing ...

Got a shop manual at a swap meet and did a check on the generator...works great, it was putting out up to 31amps peak. So I started messing with the regulator (it's not original) and I think it's going bad. O'Reillys couldn't find a match any ideas? I did find out I need a series B.

Moving to Ga this summer

I'm moving from Enterprise, Ks to Peachtree City, Ga this summer and wondered what kind of truck events there are in the region. I joined to late to visit slickstock last year, but did enjoy the Kansas City classic car show this summer. ____________________ '64 F100 223 style side shortbed farm truc...

My understanding is the generator won't be able to keep up with any accessories I might want to add in the future- radio, lighter socket, maybe an a/c at some point. I plan on keeping any of the original parts no matter what, it's good to know that the generator can be rebuilt.

I plan on changing the generator to an alternator at some point...right now I've been in a rush to just get it running reliably so I can get it to my Dad's shop in Tennessee.

When should my Generator Light be on?

I've got a '64 f100 223 and my generator light on the dash is on during idol it usually goes away when I give it gas, usually. Should it be on then or should it only come on when there is a problem?

Unibody History?

Just curious I was doing some reading about the history of the f100's and came across the statement that the unibody design had a problem with flexing and popping the doors open while driving. (Sounded a little dangerous considering the lack or lack of use of seat belts at the time) Was this a real ...
