Re: Hexenschuss

Amazing how quickly the time passes. Haven't accomplished much lately, been building a storage rack for the back seat of my new work truck. Got it together enough this weekend to put it in the truck and see how it works this week. I'll get some pictures when its all done. Did get the hood put on las...

It sure did turn out better than I was expecting. And she looks so much happier with the front end mostly back together

I'm really happy with all of the colors...

Re: Hexenschuss

Yes, it is Wimbledon white. Actually, the mixer used Corinthian white because his book didn't go past 1968. It did take a week to get the grille blacked out, but only about 6 hours to tape it up  The bumper and stone deflector are mounted and got started bolting in the grille. Need a few more ...

That's an awesome story! That young man doesn't know exactly how fortunate he is to have met you. What a great way to show a newbie how community works. Hopefully you've gained a helper too :D

The amazing spirit of some people

It is strange some of the things you run across out on the highway. There's a stretch of a four-lane that I travel for work fairly often and its not uncommon to pass someone with car trouble. Lots of times there's no one around and a white rag is hanging off the mirror. For some reason I had noticed...

Re: Hexenschuss

Well, the weather has really cooperated here lately and allowed for the grille to get blasted, bumper stripped, correct stone deflector ready and all of it primed and painted as of last Friday. Got the stone deflector semi-mounted this evening, ran out of bolts. So that means blasting and phosphatin...

Re: BlackTruck Build 65

It's always a pleasure to help move your project along! Wish I'd stayed around to see the new valve covers and breather go on!! Glad you figured out the starter deal. Keep checking things off on the list, we'll be riding before too long! Hey Grump, as for the headers, if you actually have "P&qu...

Re: my shipwrecked '63

Such a great feeling to go out for a shakedown run!! Thank you for sharing the video with us. Wish I was smart enough to have captured some of my first trips. Uh, maybe its a good thing I didn't on several of them! Hope you get lots of seat time before leaving again. Congratulations!

Re: Hexenschuss

The delrin came from amazon. They are actually a bit shy of 1/2" thick. I wanted to have some extra adjusting room and with the factory washers on top, they're right at 1/2". I'm still puzzled as to where I mis-measured or whatever and couldn't use the factory isolators, but these will be ...

Re: BlackTruck Build 65

Ditto on the gauges looking good! I've always liked SW stuff and when they brought back the greenline series I was very excited. I almost bought the same set, but I really wanted to have an all-in-one style for this one. Still wound up with three gauges but they'll be ok. Time to get serious about t...

Re: Hexenschuss

Well the new cab mounts appear to be just the ticket. I did stick the bumper on and the clearances are much better. The bumper needs some more tweaking. It was hit pretty hard on the driver's side and I was able to get it fairly straight, but it still has a twist in it. Got a strap wrench and the to...

Re: You got 5 minutes ?

Sounds like I should invest in some kind of a portable paint booth and start travelling throughout Slick-land. I've struggled with the same deal, waiting for the weather to be right because I don't like painting in the shop and covering everything with plastic and overspray! And there's always the b...

Re: Fasteners for door emblems

I realize I wasn't clear in what I was asking about the retainers. I was wanting to know what hole size they used because I've seen 5/32", 1/4" etc. Got a bag of 20 from NAPA. They had to order them but were in the next day. All worked out just fine. Thanks for the replies!

Re: Hexenschuss

Well it has come to my attention that the cab is sitting too high on the frame which doesn't allow the bumper and lower valance to line up. Too far in to do any metal surgery so decided to do a body drop. A buddy recommended delrin and cut a set for me on his lathe. Got them in last night but ran ou...

I'm thinking burly maple with mahogany strips :D :D Seriously trying to avoid a "temporary bed" because I know myself and it will become a permanent bed. But we'll see what happens when the driving begins! Started putting the internals back in the doors and discovered the key didn't work. ...

Re: Straight Sixin' '63

Nice work on the exhaust leak fix!!! Those things drive me nuts. That picture of your cab mount sure brings back memories. Best wishes on that project. I used the reproductions from Carolina Classics and was/am happy with how it all turned out. It was scary for me to get into that because the step r...
