Re: header question?
Thanks for your response. It's a pretty direct hit on the new crossmember. Keep in mind this new crossmember isn't stock and it's not the big existing crossmember on the frame. It's an after-market crossmember sold by Dennis Carpenter for guys like me who want to put a big FE block into a 63 unibody...

header question?
So I'm dropping a real pretty 390 FE as well as a newly rebuilt C6 transmission (with a shiny Lokar floor shifter) into my 63 Unibody (used to have a 223 6 in it with a three-speed on the column. I've ordered crossmembers for both engine and the transmission from Dennis Carpenter and everything seem...

engine/tranny swap question
I've got a 63 Unibody that with an inline-6. I've got a newly rebuilt 390 and rebuilt c6 transmission that I'd like to drop into it. Will the engine perches that I currently have work for the 390 and is there any modification needed to use the c6 instead of the 3-speed manual that's in it? Also, I'l...

Wanted:shortbed box for my 66 f100
If anyone has a shorted for 65' I'd be interested in it. I have a longbox in AWESOME shape as well, if anyone is interested in that.

I bought it
I just bought this tool box and the seller swears its from a long bed. It's definitely not anywhere close to the length of my long bed box. I really need the latch more than the box, but the box is in excellent shape if anyone wants to buy the box without the latch.

Oh, I totally agree on keeping with the 390. I was just trying to buy some time. I've actually got some great punch out of my 351M, more than I thought, but it took some special doing (electric fans, shaved heads, some help from Edelbrock from the motor up, etc.) I'm excited to see what this 390 wil...

Thank you for your replies. I have another question for you. I'll be rebuilding the 390 that is in the truck currently. I teach at a local technical college that has an automotive program and they will be using it for one of the student projects (but not until next Fall). I have a newly rebuilt 351M...

I just bought another 66. It's got a 390, 4-speed manual, 9" rear end and has air conditioning in it. It looks like all this stuff came standard, but I haven't seen anything that says 390 came in these. I do know that 352's were stock. Can anybody tell me what motors came in these or guide me t...

Thanks Johnny, Maybe you can answer this next question then. Are the inner fenders from a 66 interchangeable with the early 70's inner fenders? They look like a similar shape and I've heard that they are, but want to make sure before I make a purchase. My knowledge so far is from cross referencing b...

Uncle Skip, This is a GREAT SITE and thanks for your helpful advice. I've done several frame up restores in the past. This is my 9th project. Here's what I've done so far: 1. Replaced motor with rebuilt 351m (not my best choice for engines, but I'm currently using it as a daily driver and it had a 3...

Looking for a 65 or 66 cab and inner fenders.
I've got two cabs and although one is better than the other, I'd like to find something that I don't have to "enjoy" so much fabrication to make it livable again. I'm also in need of inner fenders. Have money . . . will travel.

BTW: my truck has been modified a bit. It's has a mid-70's steering column and power steering unit installed (done prior to my purchasing it) as well as a 351 V8. I have a ton of questions for the man who had it before me, but he passed away, so I'm searching. This site has been extremely helpful. I...

Thanks for your reply. That's a stinker! I'm in Wisconsin and it seems like I've found about 4 cabs that all have the earlier style cabs that are nearly rust-free, but can't seem to find anything like mine that's in decent shape. Can you speculate on how much fabrication would have to be done in ord...

Question for you F100 Gurus. Please Help!!
I'm new to restoring pickups and so far I'm digging it. I've got a 66 F100 that's very clean, but I have a cab that is completely rusted. I've found a cab on a 1 ton chassis that looks pretty close to mine with the exception of a "step" area on the floor - my current cab has no "step&...
