Hey there, if you get her working could you let us know how the new carb works out? I have the same issue you're having on the same type engine. Somebody told me maybe to try and adjust the float a little because while stopping it could be starving itself for fuel in the bowl. I haven't tinkered wit...

Spanky. I hope to have a surprise for all you Huey lovers later this year. UH-'s are the Model A Ford of Helicopters. There aren't any in the US because everybody in what ever country you care to name who can afford one buys them. Are you buying us all a ride on the one at Ellington!?? That'd be gr...

I took quite a few flights in one of those slicks. I didn't think there were any still flying. That's pretty neat to see after all these years. Thanks putting it on here. Yeah not too many around flying anymore. This ones based out there at my job. There is also a Helicopter repair station out ther...

I did check the idle screw about two turns out. With everything hooked up I checked the RPMs with the timing light and it was saying at idle 1480-1500 range. Seems to run better timed at 8 degrees instead of 4 degrees though. at least at idle. I took her on a test drive just now around the block (in...

Ok, I did the spring test and figure it's a loadomatic. It did not move when I tried to turn it. After I reattached the vacuum line I rechecked the timing and it was advanced by a good bit, so I turned it down some and it did seem to help. I had some help from a coworker rebuilding the carb being it...

However, I dont know what it was giving it gas because at the time I didnt know to do that. I just now saw your pos...

well, today I got a timing light and a vacuum gauge. I got it timed right at 4 degrees as per the shop manual. popped on the vacuum gauge and it's holding steady right at 5! It says I have a massive leak somewhere. I did replace the manifold gasket and sealed it good and checked the bolts are all ti...

It's an autolite. I just rebuilt the carb because it was leaking fuel very badly now it's fine but just trying to tweak out the carb and the timing. I had to diconnect the vacuum line to turn the distributer (hard line) and got it sounding ok with the carb and the turning of the distributer and conn...

vacuum advance question
Why does my 223 run better with my vacuum advance unplugged?
With the line disconnected, it doesn't misfire anymore...
Shouldn't it run worse?
Thanks, Mike

Hey Ruth, I was there from about 0930-1500. Max was there too but he was working down the flightline on our end. Yes it was a good turn out! The aircraft on static display was more than double last year also! I noticed though, one of the most interesting and rare things at the whole show this year t...

Thanks for the tips! I found the problem, it was the spark plug gaps. They were all set at .040 so i reset them all to .030. I obviously forgot to gap them when I bought the plugs. haha And the truck wasnt even running that bad! I thought it was just a tad rough but nothing seemed out of the ordinar...

weird distributor cap problem
I have never seen this before: just started some routine maint. on the ol slick and popped the distributor cap off and I'll be damn if the post are all brand new looking but right beside each one of them on the plastic it's burned a hole all the way around on the inside just next to each post. :hm: ...
