The yard up the street from me has a '64 with those 'U' shaped pieces on grill, I figured thats what it was for, but bumper must have been changed out at some time as it had no holes.

Tom,
the rollover valve/anti siphon valve is basically a ball that enters the fill tube in the event of a rollover.
That 1+" hole if not for the sender could possibly be for the vent?-Steve.

I had the same problem, firstly I cut the column down to get the wheel away from me a bit, bad move!, the smaller wheel is a bugger if you don't have power steering and now I`m putting a tilt column shift in from Flaming river it looks smick! http://www.flamingriver.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product...

I had a post on here awhile back, I've been looking on ebay too.
