if you measure your spline size and count and then go to websites like flaming river, borgeson, they have drawings of different coupling to match up

Re: Looking for some guidance on a worn out 302...
if you follow the book carefully you should be fine, attention to detail is the key. One option you may consider is having the engine shop assemble the short block, its fairly cheap and the hardest part. Camshaft break in is very important so a very good cam lube and break in oil are a must.

Re: Advice wanted for finicky hydraulic lifters
lifters have been a problem with a lot of companies in the last few years. I order mine from Bullit Cams, they cost a few bucks but at least I don't have to tear motors apart twice. I wouldn't expect you will silence your lifters without replacing them. What kind of oil pressure are you running?

Re: Back on the road
the choke should be wide open. You either have a vacuum leak, or the idle circuit in the carb may have some dirt in it. How does it run otherwise? May also need a little timing adjustment to help a little.

Re: Synthetic GEAR oil SAE 75W-90
the diff oil is ok but I would use a 50 weight gear oil in the tranny, 75/90 is to thick for a tranny.

Re: can i install a aod transmission out a 1995 econoline?
I don't think the newer tranny has a speedo either which means an electronic speedo or adapter will be needed, stay old school AOD and save time and money

industrial stores (grainer etc) which carry pulleys and bearings are a good source of quality belts, just bring in your old one as they don't have auto listings

Re: cut coils, removed leafs, driveshaft question
lowering the truck will change the u joint angles and you will end up with the driveshaft being more in line with the diff. You do not want the driveshaft and diff to be in a straight line. The yolk into the transmission may also ne worn and the bushing in the transmission output housing may be worn...

Re: 352 fe normal oil pressure
change the oil with something good and thicker than 10/30, add 1 bottle of lucas oil stabilizer and you should be ok. And do NOT use fram filters, use wix, Donaldson, napa gold
