Traction bars
Are any of you running leaf spring traction bars? Wheel hop is a big problem on these old fords--heh,heh. I am building on a budget an d make a set with about a fingers width on clearance between the snubber and the spring. I lowered the back flipping the axle to the top on the spring, and I added a...

"Three on the tree"
Has anyone converted to floor shift for the manual 3 speed (1965)? If so, are the shifters available and are they any good? Also, how strong is the 3 sped manual box? I am not going to be easy on the 65 driver I am putting together, and I don't want any embarrassing moments.

speedo noise
How do you lube the round speedo (66)? Mine makes noise and in the cold weather it gets louder. It has a slight bounce to it at all speeds. It is off by about 10mph, but that is because I went from 4.56 to 3.54 in the Dana 60. Any way to lube it, and if so, what do you use?

Door adjustment
Well after fighting the driver's door swap out yesterday, turns out the top hinge was bent. There was less of a curve in the replacement. I finally compared with the old stiff hinges and found the problem--curses. What I want to know is why does a 30 minute job always turn into a 4 hour job, and how...

I asked about the carb because as I suspected, everyone has their preferences. The engine is a 360 with new PAW heads with all new parts, an Edelbrock performer intake, performer cam (compatable with stock valvetrain), pertronix ignition, Holley fuel pressure regulator, and headers. It has a windage...

Thanks guys. I am going to send everything I have to WinR and get an evaluation if one can be saved. I rebuilt a 600 Holley and that darn thing fills the back two cylinders so full of gas it shoots out when I crank it with the plugs out. I think the base plate is cracked..... The 4100 looks like it ...

Autolite 4100 carb
I have 2 or 3 of these, and might be able to make one complete one. Anyone run one of their slick? Anyone got a carb kit manufacturer and part number? Advance Auto only lists the whole carb for $213.00. I ran one on a 67 Mustang with a 390 and loved it, smooth and powerful transition from 2 two 4 ba...

Best 4BBL carb
If you bought a brand new 4bbl carb for a 352 or 360, Eldebrock performer package and headers, what would you get? I currently have a 600 Holley 4160 vacuum secondary on the 390 in my 66 F250, and love it. I want more performance for the 360. What do you guys run?

Had the same problem. What is happening is the circuit breaker (yes there are breakers in a slick) kicks out and in as the circuit for the headlights heats up and cools off. Mine turned out to be the switch, the dimmer coil on the back was GONE, allowing full current all the time. Replace the switch...

Insulating starter
Do any of you have problems with the "hot starter" problem when running headers on a FE (352, 360, 390, whatever)? Since the headers run so close to the starter, I'm concerned. They are the typical plain black painted. Can I just insulate the starter? Any ideas if a problem? Thanks, I have...

You guys are scaring me, turning 37 this Sat. I can go all day working on my trucks, but need them to keep me active. If I sit all day, I feel worse than working all day. When the hot humid weather hits, I catalog browse or order parts or take a nap on the days off. One day, I won't have the go I do...

Hello all. Been reading the forum for some time, and enjoy it. I have been around Slicks my whole life, (37 years old this Saturday), and currently own two complete ones, and one or so parts trucks. My late grandfather purchased a 66 custom cab, turquoise and white with the 352 2bbl, NP435, and 4.10...
