Re: C6 tranny kick down rod
I had a brain fart here. My truck had a Cruisomatic originally. When I converted to a C6 I re-used the Cruiso kickdown rod. It was the perfect length for a Holley but needed a two inch extender for an Edelbrock carb. I started out with an iron intake and two barrel Autolite carb. I then switched to ...

Re: converting a 66 F-100 4X4 to a C-6 question
Interesting. I honestly didn't think there would be much difference in the cross members between a 4x2 and a 4x4. Post up some pics when you get a chance. Those rivets suck but they do their job well.

Re: converting a 66 F-100 4X4 to a C-6 question
Hey Guy's... So i am converting a 66 F-100 4X4 truck from the original 4 speed to a C-6 with a Dana 205. I know i need to grind out the rivets from the stock cross member and move it back to match the new C-6 transmission mount, but what are you guys doing to re-support the trailing arm brackets th...

Re: C6 tranny kick down rod
You shouldn't have to change kickdown rod length when switching between the two carbs. If using an Edelbrock carb; you need to add length to the rod. The rod should be adjusted so the tranny only kicks down at wide open throttle. With the engine off; have someone hold the gas pedal to the floor. Pus...

Re: Cut springs = how much drop
The leaf springs are now the the botton of the axle. I did flip the leaf pavk. If that is the same hardware that originally held the axle and leaf springs in place. Nothing that can be undone and placed back to original set up. Lools like I will set the rear set up back to stock. I will research th...

Re: Cut springs = how much drop
I cut two full coils out of mine and the truck sits about the same height as with DJM drop beams. I had the stock beams bent at an alignment shop. Perfect tire wear for two years now. I also installed Doetsch Tech Nitro Slammer lowered shocks up front. Great shock with excellent valving for this set...

Re: wheels for disc brake conversion?
ok I have to ask, how much did you have to drop it to get that stance jeeper? Sorry; I missed this post. I cut two coils out of front springs and used AIM drop brackets and shackles out back. Went to Jack's Alignment and they re-bent the beams for correct alignment. I run Doetsch Tech Nitro Slammer...

Stock radius arms and same length. Did I misword something? Sorry if I did.Rusty 63 wrote:I seem to recall reading that the radius arm length did vary by year or truck size (100/250/etc)-- maybe someone replaced one but not another?

Re: My experience with AIM drop beams
The front to rear wheel placement should primarily be affected by the radius arms. I don't understand why the radius arms off your truck aren't the same length - I've never noticed that on any of several twin Ibeam trucks I've dis-mantled........ I also don't understand all the comments about the t...

Re: Engine Choice Ideas for my 66 F100: original spec 240 au
Hi Eric! Yeah I thought long and hard about putting my spare FE in with a TL trans (or get a C6 or the cruzo I gave away)... But decided against it for this truck. Then I thought about using the 289 from my Galaxie but it's a 5 bolt block. I don' t want to cut the floor for a stick either. I am sur...

Never heard of them. Should flow good but I'm not a fan of the raspy sound. I like the deeper exhaust tones but it sure sounds healthy.Brendan in NC wrote:There Call Big Daddy Muffler's from 1978 pretty much close to a glasspack but these have a better sound!dsrtjeeper wrote:Magnaflow mufflers?

Re: Engine Choice Ideas for my 66 F100: original spec 240 au
My 66 truck appears to have a broken/collapse passenger rear spring, as the truck has a lean back to that side. The stock springs are 6 leaves (5+helper). I picked up a set of 1964 short bed springs, they are 7 leaves (4+three helpers.) Research on line said my stock springs are rated at 950 or 105...
