Remember the car/truck that followed the Ranchero?

Never saw one in person, but do recall reading about it in one of the car magazines.

Re: can i install a aod transmission out a 1995 econoline?

http://www.usshift.com/?gclid=CLrNqtXti8ACFQmoaQodGU0A_g See the above site they have control electronics to shift your tranny. You start off with a base program then you can change the shift pattern to what you want. Also with it being a 95 you should still have your VSS hole (98 ish is when the v...

Re: Steering damper in a 2 wheel drive truck?

About the only thing I haven't checked that I can think of, is to try and adjust the PS gear box. Or just replace it.

Thanks for the replies.

Steering damper in a 2 wheel drive truck?

Has anyone added a steering damper to their 2 wheel drive truck? I have a lot of wobble and jumpiness when hitting road bumps and poor steering at highway speeds since I added power steering. I upgraded to disc brakes, new brass kingpin bushings, new suspension linkage and still not happy with it at...

Re: Interviewing at China Lake Naval Weapons Center

Bruce, Yes I will need to consider the taxes. I remember passing thru Needles while sight seeing south of Laughlin, NV a couple years ago and noticing gas was about a buck more a gallon on the California side than the Nevada side. I have read about problems with meth addicts and crime in the area on...

Interviewing at China Lake Naval Weapons Center

In June the Navy is bringing me out to interview for a job at the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake. Which is basically next to Ridgecrest, CA. I am finding good and bad things about the area online. We all know how the internet works, you can find someone that will hate anyplace you can come up wi...

Re: power steering gear box and pittman arm questions

Haven't heard from my friend with the 66 parts truck, so I'll just look for 67-71 parts truck to pull from. I did the disc swap the right way first time, so all the correct parts, such as prop valve, master cylinder, brake lines, etc. are correct and good. Bronze bushings were taken to a machine sho...

power steering gear box and pittman arm questions

Is there any real difference in steering components between a 66 F100 and a 71 F100? I would like to take the power steering off my 71 and replace with manual steering from a 66 parts truck a friend has. As far as I know there is no real difference between the years. Just a difference in pittman arm...

Re: saginaw p/s swap?

Dion, I have a late model 5.0 with serpentine belt, so I'm not sure how hard it would be to rig that up. I'll have to check the econolines at the local yards and when I find one with a saginaw, give it a try and see what happens I guess.

Re: saginaw p/s swap?

Yes, Ford vans had them. If my 2nd rebuilt p/s pump, a rebuilt NAPA lifetime warranty unit, is as bad as the Autozone pump, I will have to look for other options. Such as go to manual steering, try a saginaw unit, or go all out and find someone to help me do a Crown vic front clip and lower the rear...

Re: air tool recommendations

I would agree that with the warranty the HF stuff can be a good deal, as long as you don't have to travel too far for replacement. The first air tools i'd get would be a DA, for prepping body work, a cut off tool for cutting out rust, and an impact wrench for speeding work up. I'd also get a 4 1/2&...

Re: Parking brake seal

I don't like the stock way of sealing up anything through the cab. My rusted floor boards say that doesn't work to well. I know that all too well. Drove my 71 home from work in a typical rain shower and had water streaming into the floor from the firewall. Going to have to get out some rubber plugs...

Re: Parking brake seal

I will have to cruise the salvage yard and see how it was done on other year and makes of trucks and cars. If I come up with any revelations I will let you all know.

I have one of these laying around. http://www.npdlink.com/store/products/1 ... _year=1967

Wonder if I mod it to fit if it would hold up?

Parking brake seal

I posted this at Fordification but didn't get much of a response so far. Trying to seal up the cab on my off topic 71. NPD carries this: m When i was taking the floor mat out of my 66, I found the same seal, so if not the same part it's very similar. Do these work well to seal out the water? Does it...

Re: 289 or 302 in a 65 - 66 - Mustang headers?

No, but I am running a set of factory mustang 5.0 headers in my 71 F100, with a 302/5.0. Pretty similar layout under the hood, but I am guessing you are talking aftermarket headers?

radiator deposits?

I have a slightly used radiator. I bought it new about 5 years ago, put maybe a thousand miles on it. truck dies so pulled it out. got rid of the truck, new owner was not interested in the rad. I pulled it out to list on craigslist and noticed lots of white granular deposits, sort of looks like larg...
