Re: '62 Unibody LSR

Tim, Thanks for all the great build pix for the 2013 Y-block. Great to see real hot rodders out there doing it like it should be done. Congrats on the 147 mph blast and best of luck in the future. Your truck is bad to the bone, bud. Tell your friends to go have a look at the new story at www.hotrode...

Re: '62 Unibody LSR

Just a little update. This year we built a new engine for the Uni LSR, this time with 14:1 compression and a set of Mummert aluminum heads. End result was a best pass of 147.195 mph. Not too bad for a 50+ year old farm truck with an obsolete clunky old Y-Block. Here's some video

Re: What's the bigest Motor I can get?

I may be a little late to this party but if you don't need 500 hp and somewhere north of 300 would suit you the engine that I ran at Bonneville last year for the "testing stage" was 320hp and nothing more than a freshen up on a previous +.060 rebuild. That's right, 301/292ci with a good ba...

Re: SlickStock Swapmeet?

The "New" one is 304. Last year it was 301, although it still says 301 on the hood. There will be a bigger one in the future but that will mean a class change and some big changes to the truck. It will still look the same though. :)

Re: SlickStock Swapmeet?

Just for the record the engine in the Uni is 304ci (.080 over 292), I'm limited to 305 in D class. the 338ci Y was in the FED but has been replaced with a 350ci Y. The 338 is now sitting in my Model A Tudor chassis. :D

Yes, Ted is the man I get my advice from.

Classic trucks did a story on "Bonneville Trucks" and both Jake and the '58 made it. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/406450_3017179235511_1443536485_3172566_584105974_n.jpg It also says "watch for a feature on his Uni in an upcoming issue". https://fbcdn-sph...

Had a real good weekend. Spent all of Friday getting the "new rig" ready, drove down to Elmo in the rain at midnight with no promise of good weather to race in then had one of the best meets ever! Less cars means more runs for me! Five passes, faster the second day than the first, with no...

Just think of how the air blows in when you open the vents. All I do is close them when I make a run.

Changed heads out today. These are the 113s that Greg Gordon donated to the "Cause". I hope I have done some of my better port work on these along with some work to the Mummert intake to make everything match up right. We'll see how it all works out in two weeks at El Mirage. http://www.y...

If you are looking for that much HP you can buy the 352 and make a 390 out of it. You will need a 390 crank and rods but the rest will work. When you get into it ask around on the FE site or you could PM me with questions if you like. As said before the FE is a good motor and makes great HP & to...
