Re: Motorcraft 2150 carb
I changed over to the 2150 after a rebuild and MAN, what a nice running truck it is now. BIG improvement.

Re: Sully's 1964 Project
Bought it as a kit and it came with everything except the pump and lines. I have since switched it to rack and pinion.

Motorcraft 2150 carb
Gas is too high and my daughter is a poor college student. Her 64 Slick has a 302/AOD combo, but it is only driven around town so she doesn't spend much time in overdrive. It has a good Holley 1850 (600 vacuum secondary). I haven't measured the gas mileage on it, but I can tell that it ain't very go...

Re: Questions about 289 in 64 Slick
I don't know on the c4, but I *think* that the c4 and c6 can use the same crossmember. The ones I have seen were bolted in.

Re: Oil filter
The Advance Auto Parts here in my town has a display of cut-open oil filters of almost any brand you can think of. About 15 filter in all. Every other brand except fram has metal end caps on the actual filter element. The Fram had cardboard. Even Advance's store brand was better made. In the 80's I ...

Re: Questions about 289 in 64 Slick
I used a 66 crossmember with an AOD. I had to move it back a little further in the frame, but that's just a matter of drilling two holes in the bottom of the frame. Mine came from a 66 with a 352/C6 combination. The Speedway crossmember cannot be modified enough to work. it is an arch, and moving th...

Re: Questions about 289 in 64 Slick
If your pre-made crossmember is the Speedway crossmember, be aware, there is NO OFFSET built into it. Been there, done that. I still have mine sitting out in the shed. I used a factory one from a 66 and it DOES have the offset built in.

Re: Questions about 289 in 64 Slick
When you said 3' to the right is that standing outside the truck or inside the truck? The crossmember I have is premade for a c4\c6 setup Would you center the moter over the axle then shift it 3" to the right? Thanks The crossmember to which I refer is not a new TRANSMISSION crossmember. Its a...

Re: Questions about 289 in 64 Slick
3" to the right. Fabricate some form of crossmember to replace it. The original crossmember was not just for engine mounting. It also gives needed rigidity to the frame at the rear of the leaf springs. I made one and it sits just between the AOD bellhousing and the trans pan. it's bolted in wit...

Bumper
I just installed my new Bumper Boyz front bumper and took off the repop. I'm assuming the repops don't fit right because they are really for the 67+ models. Is that correct??
I'm asking cause I'm gonna Craigslist it and want to list it for the correct model.

Chrome - Bumper Boyz
Just picked up my new bumper from the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville. I had ordered it from Bumper Boyz in Cali. They did a BEAUTIFUL job. Local plater wanted $1200 to plate a straight bumper. For an 18-year-old girl to drive?? No way. I would rather live with a crappy repop than pay that. Ran i...

Re: Re drilling axles? Help!
Be aware that a 1980 rearend will be something like 6" wider. I have an early 80's F150 rearend in mine. I have 16x8 wheels with 5.85" backspacing (late model Dodge backspacing) and I can just barely get my fingers in between the rear fender and the tire at the top. I wanted to fill my whe...

Re: Engine offset?
I installed mine 3" to the right. Aftermarket crossmembers (engine and/or tranny) do NOT have the offset built in. Mine is a 64 so there was no engine or tranny crossmembers in the usual places for a 302/AOD swap. I dumped my Speedway transmission crossmember and highly modified my Speedway fra...

Re: Fast N' Loud 69 Ford Truck
The way Richard (or whatever the owners name is) acts makes car guys look stupid. The others on the show are extremely talented. No doubt the build was very good, but IMO there are better F100 builds on this sight (mine is NOT one of them) like kstone63's build. I saw nothing particularly spectacula...

Re: Fast N' Loud 69 Ford Truck
OMG, the owner on Fast N Loud is a flippin' moron. He almost makes the show unbearable to watch. The shop just wants him out of the freakin' way. I predict that the show will not last very long with the current owner. He spent $29,500 in parts/labor/paint + $2500 to buy it. I find it VERY hard to be...

Eastwood rust encapsulator. I have use both POR-15 and Rust Encapsulator and found the latter to be easier to use and it is DEFINITELY SAFER. POR-15 has dangerous isocanate (sp?) fumes that can permanently damage the nervous system gjhaabvajlbvjlwejrfglajfgajlgjklgggjkl (sorry, my fingers were twitc...

Re: flipped rear
They're *OK.* They would work better at less of an angle, but they're acceptable. I might actually extend the rearend shock bracket at some point using an angle that keeps the shock length the same but takes out 20* or so of angle. Right now, she's driving it as her daily and I don't want to have it...
