Re: What have you done to your slick today??

I put a set of new tires on mine. Huge difference in ease of steering at low/no speeds over the 8 year old set. Installed my rebuilt original power brake booster along with a new master cylinder and the trucks driving like a dream now. Better than it ever has since I've owned it anyway. :D

Re: stock speaker size

Here's a link to the speaker source I used. The 5"x7" Oval ($39.95, about halfway down the page) is a perfect fit to the holes in the dash grille and @ 8 ohms is a correct match for the original radio. Cranks up plenty loud enough with the stock radio to hear easily with the windows down i...

Re: New interior in Shep

Very nice!

BTW: I have the same stock red & black rubber floor mat under my carpet. I think it was original for custom cabs with red interiors. I like it. I wish it was being reproduced.

Re: Vent window questions

That long bolt that comes out of the frame is the reason most people get a new (used) window from a yard. I don't know how you could possibly replace the bolt, as the stamped metal surrounding the frame would block you from welding it on. I could be wrong, but I just replaced mine.

Re: 1964 auto column shifter

Shimming the detent plate won't help. You need to be sure to have a "step" on the part of the shifter lever that contacts the shift detent so that the upper part protrudes into the detent plate holes. That stepped shoulder protruding into the detent plate hole is what holds the lever in th...

Re: 1964 auto column shifter

You could have either a worn shift detent plate or a worn shift lever. Here's a link to a thread on another forum with pics of how I fixed mine.

Love those crew cabs! Gotta be a bitch to park though, unless you have power steering.

Re: show me your guages

I have one of those "flashy" repro sweep clusters installed in mine. Gauges are all originals cleaned up & detailed a bit. I like the stock styling, and it looks way better than the roached out original bezel did IMO. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=18662&pict...
