Re: increase torque?

well, the more i think about all of your comments and advice im leaning towards starting from scratch with a recheck on the carb and timing. I may have overlooked something. the way it acts does seem like a fuel delivery problem more than a gearing problem. thanks for all your help. its going to be ...

Re: increase torque?

I do have new dual exhaust attacthed to some long tube headers. That alone made a big difference. I will check the carb again. I do believe that the 600 cfm was going to be too much for my set up and thats why i went with the 500cfm. I would like a 4bbl. but, i would rather spend the money getting a...

Re: increase torque?

its very responsive with the throttle. no hesitation. The truck is fast. it will scoot. I remember trying to do a burn out from a stand still and the engine was sluggish then stalled. but, if i put the hammer to it going forward it goes with no issues. i would say that my power band is somewhere aro...

Re: increase torque?

thanks guys. I failed to mentioned that last spring i had the engine out and went through the whole thing. new gaskets etc.. as far as the timing. it is perfect. it starts right up and runs sooo damn smooth. I havent gone through the transmission yet. Is it true if you count the rotations of the dri...

increase torque?

Hello, I have a 66 LWB it has a 352 with a cruiseomatic and 9" rear. the only modifications that have been done to the engine are a 500cfm 2bbl holley carb and a set of long tube headers. thats it! everything else is bone stock. When driving the truck it is real sluggish on the low end especial...

Re: 1966 brake issues

Ive been running with a single master cylinder, front disc and rear drums. I know that technically this set up should not work. but this is how i purchased the treuck and i cant stop thinking about how they made this work so well. So, I will get pics of what i have this evening. and maybe show off t...

Re: 1966 brake issues

bruce I agree I really want to figure out how the previous owner made this happen. the front calipers look like a new after market set up like you would see in a lmc catalogue. I had no issues before. the crappy thing is i returned the old master cy. for the core. so i cant compare the two. im a lit...

1966 brake issues

Hey all! I have a 66 2wd long bed. I drove it daily for the past 2 years.i parked it for the winter and decided to restore the engine and engine compartment. I finished everything i wanted so i can start driving it again and the brake pedal hit the floor. i saw some fluid leaking out the back of the...

fe352 engine issues!!!!

Hey All! Well i have the infamous intake manifold oil leak. So i finally decided to takle the issue. My flywheel/flexplate is all chewed up as well, so out came the engine. It was my first time with this truck and i have to say it was pretty simple. removed the intake manifold then noticed a crack o...

Re: Steering column noise?

WOW! Thanks guys. I really paid attention to what was going on today. The column itself does not move or vibrate in any direction. thats the outer portion. the shifter portion does lock into P,N,1,2. when in the D ident there is a lot of play. meaning i can move the shifter back and forth before it ...

Re: Steering column noise?

thanks! First, the cab mounts do need replaceing. No rotten metal though. (I really lucked out with this truck!!) the rag joint does seem to be newer with no dry rot or tears. After reading your posts i got underneath it and checked the speedo cable at the trans. looks good. I did have the steering ...

Re: New 1966 Owner

Mine rides like a cadillac! I do agree that the wind pushes back. 60-65 mph rides just fine. At 70+ it gets a little touchy. I do have disc's on the front and everything else is stock.

Welcome! everyone here has helped me a lot!! good luck, have fun!!

Re: Master Cylinders

I have disc brakes on the front. I have no idea what the previous owner installed. I think it is one of the conversion kits though. thier powered by the original master cylinder with no booster. They work great. But, i just found a leak behind the pedal. do you think i should install an updated mast...

Re: fuel issues?

Well guys I FIXED IT!! I looked into the gas tank and found a piece of duct tape by the pick up tube. (i have no idea why it was there?) removed it and found the rest of the tank shiney and clean. changed my fuel filter. didnt notice anything in the filter or bowl. i pulled the fuel line going to th...

Re: fuel issues?

i pulled the fuel line from the filter to carb. connected a hose and bottle. Cranked the engine over and im getting plenty of fuel. that ruled out the pump. checked the bottle and fuel is all clear no particles. so, i removed the carb and opened it up to find dirt and small rubber particles. so, my ...
