Stalling out on hills

Need some help. I'm having a problem with my '65 stalling out on hills. When I come to a stop it only takes about 8-10 seconds for it to stumble and die. It will not restart on the hill but if I coast it down to level ground it will restart with a little coaxing. If I'm facing down the hill there's ...

Re: Aftermarket Wire Harness.........?'s

I just finished doing a complete rewire with the American Autowire Classic Update kit. It was my first complete rewire and the directions and diagrams made it fairly easy. Way easier than I thought it would go. It is a bit pricey but the instructions made it worth it for me. If I had better wiring k...

Re: Negative Camber after Dream Beam install

Well I have a boring update. I swapped out the Moog coils with my original ones and the negative camber was even worse so I put the Moog ones back on and for some unexplained reason the camber was improved. In fact, when I took it to get aligned it actally had 1 degree of positive camber now which t...

Re: New '65 Flareside owner

Welcome!
Well after I got the interior all done I drove it for a few months and ended up selling it after discovering 70's custom vans. Got that out of my system so I sold that to buy the Slick I'm working on now.
Gonna hold on to this one.

Re: Negative Camber after Dream Beam install

I didn't make any adjustments to the tie rods and it had been aligned previously.
I will try and get close with an alignment this weekend. Thanks again for the tips.

Re: Negative Camber after Dream Beam install

Thanks again for the advice. The toe-in is pretty excessive at the moment. As far as alignment goes, I don't have a flat surface to really work on. If I took it to an alignment shop first, would it have to be realigned after the camber is fixed?

Re: Negative Camber after Dream Beam install

So I talked to an engineer at DJM and he suggested putting some shims under the coil cup to see if it corrects things. The rain is back so I probably won't be able to get to it for a bit.

Re: Negative Camber after Dream Beam install

Thanks for all the replies so far. I don't think any shop will bend aftermarket beams nor do I want to go that route. As far as them being defective, it's a possibility but I haven't been able to find any instances online of that occurring with anyone else's order. I may just put the original spring...

I got the 6 cylinder springs for my I6 and installed them on the correct side. Tall side passenger, short side driver.

Re: Which axle bushing set

When I replaced my radius arm bushings I ordered some Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings from NPD for about $18. Had to reuse the original washers.

Negative Camber after Dream Beam install

Installed Dream Beams with new Moog stock style springs and DJM shocks. I have about 1" of negative camber now. I understand the toe-in that it has now will be corrected when I get it aligned. Any chance the alignment might magically fix the camber or did I do something wrong? I would've expect...

Re: Power brake booster

So i decided to go the route of using spacers and it worked out pretty good. I did not measure where the pedal sat before installation so I'm not sure if the pedal sits higher or if it just seems like it. Anyways, I went to Lowe's and bought some 1" steel sleeve spacers and longer bolts. I thin...

Power brake booster

I am in the process of redoing the brakes in my '65 and decided to go with power drums all around. I read (or maybe misread) that the '68-72 booster/mc combos bolt right up so i got the brackets from a '70 and bought a new '68 booster/mc unit. The problem i am having is the push rod is about an inch...

Re: Tail light trouble

Problem solved! I tried grounding fom the socket and got no change. Probed the socket and it told me the bulb need to be in backwards. Well bulbs only go in one way so that meant the harness to tail wires were backwards. Which doesn't make sense unless something got weird mid harness. Oh well I have...

Re: Tail light trouble

I checked from the firewall on down to the end of the harness and all was good. Supposedly these flareside lights ground in the housing to the body of the truck. I thought maybe the black paint that was on the new backets was interferring so grinded the paint off to bare metal, put them back on and ...

Re: Tail light trouble

Well now I'm at a loss. I spliced the brown to brown (and the red to yellow). Did the same on the other tail light and I'm still getting the same results. Light switch off: Blinkers/flashers work. Brake lights work. No running tail lamps. Light switch on: Blinkers/flashers work. No brake lights. No ...
