Re: 63 wrong bed Southern Utah area
Looks like undercoating, probably applied by dealer. Mine scraped off easily with a small propane torch and a putty knife, just heating small sections and then in scrapping it off. Easily done when the cab is set on it's back.

Re: 65 F100 4x4 parts truck turns project
Inside of the doors have holes that you can run a bolt thru...double nut it and you can turn the bolt to press against a 2x4 or other suitable scrap lumber to press against the copper, holding it in place. I used copper pipe, cut down the center and flatten...it will bend easily to the contour of th...

Re: 65 F100 4x4 parts truck turns project
Hiboy,
I used nails when I filled mine in. Just used a nail head with slightly small diameter then hole, tack it in an then fill in. Nail shaft gives you something to hang onto when tacking and then grinds off easy enough.
Looking good.

Paul,
I double checked my lube charts after your post and low and behold mine states exactly the same...that's what I get for working off memory....
Looks like Type F it is.

Thanks Barney & Skip,
After 49 years of who knows what in the tranny, it's probably not critical either way.

Type A, Type-F, Dexron III?
This seems to be a highly debatable subject just about anywhere on the net. The maintenance manual for my 1964 HD cruise-o-matic calls for ford spec M2C33-A/B transmission fluid (i.e. Type-A). I bought type-F before I saw the recommendation in the manual but have not filled the trany yet (just a qrt...

Re: Getting back to it
Hey Hiboy, I was thinking about your drip rail rust a little this morning and that sure seems like an ugly place to have to try and weld up. I sure have done a lot of rust repair on my '64, but luckily none on the roof. Front of my bed was probably the closest type of seam to a drip rail and man was...

Icemans Ring Gear replacement on Flywheel
Iceman, or anyone else. Referencing your procedures for replacing ring gear on a flywheel: Ever replaced the ring gear on a automatic flexplate? Difference seems to be that the ring gear, at least on my 64 HD cruise-o-matic/292, in addition to the procedure of heating to remove/replace, has about 6 ...

Great how-to article here from Hotrod Mag. on replacing floor pans. I replaced mine with no prior know-how or skill, just simply using the internet for info and how-to's when I'd get stuck. Didn't turn out perfect but no one will ever know, except me...and I ain't talkin Happy welding... EDIT: here'...
