I've had to loosen the dist hold down and try to start the truck and it usually pops the dist loose

I guess I shoulda specified that it's not traditional. It will be zed enought to clear the real axle while the frame sets on the ground.

I used a hack saw smililar to what skip said and it was a hell of a task. I ended up taking them to a local po dunk shop and got them removed and installed the new ones for 20$ good luck man the only way to learn is to get out and try it. I hope it works out for ya

That's the front only. I'm 4 linking and bagging the rear. I'll airbag the front once I can save enough for a dokota swap

I removed every other leaf, reversed the eyes on the main leafs and used a dropped axle on my 64. You can see the ride height in my avatar pic
