Re: Tires

Don't get the ones that say they have "nylon" in them as they flat spot from sitting and it looks like your truck sits a lot. They will go thump, thump, thump until they are warm and become round again.
So if you drive only a couple of miles to a car show you will be highly annoyed :)

Re: Slick value by YOM

You are so right Iceman. The return on investment for somebody who bought a new truck in 1961 is amazing. Here in the desert north of Los Angeles you see slicks everyday still earning their keep. Without rust they last forever......

Re: Slick value by YOM

As our trucks are getting more valuable the pocket book street rodders will enter the game and bring "their" values with them. I predict the shortbed bigwindow Unibody to be come the holy grail of slicks money wise at least. I own two bigwindow longbed unis that need resto but my tastes ha...

Everybody has a favorite oil. For me I like a thick oil in an older high mileage engine so I try to find straight 50 weight.

Are the bolts generic hexheads or do they have the raised ridge around the head and washer lip like detroit automotive fasteners have?

Looks nice but the apostrophe is wrong. To be correct it has to be spelled Slick '60s. Sorry to be the messenger.

Re: The AMAZING Offshore Tool Discussion

I like HF for the odd one time use tool that always creeps up. Those are so expensive from the established tool manufacturers. The HF electric tools are crude, full of vibration and heat up fast but I do not do heavy work so they last me forever. For handtools I bought/buy used snap on because they ...

Re: THE KING IS DEAD!! :(

Mr. Shelby passed and with him died just another piece of the America we grew up in. He was bold and brass and it is fitting that there was a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by some disgruntled secretary. He drove his Crown Victoria to most speaking engagements around the southwest. He swore like a ...

Re: How hard is it to replace windshield rubber?

When the rubber is old and hard it is often better to just cut it to get the good windshield out. For putting it in with a new molding and the bright trim I always call the glass guy. I think its a young man's game as you have to move around quite a bit :)

Re: Steering column rebuild

Steering column are very simple parts and easy to check. There is a bushing aat the bottom with a rubber cup. There should be no play and the rubber should be intact without tears so that moisture cannot enter. The top bearing is a really cheap part that can go bad and the tension on the bearing is ...
