I snagged a set out of a 88 Mustang Conv. for $40 on CL...I'll have to fab a bracket but they fit pretty dang well...have headrest and shoulder belt loop (but I plan on removing both when I recover them)...they are just sitting in there in the pic...not installed obviously, so the outside is sitting...

Well, I just purchased a T5...and while its not a race to get it put in...I'll keep you posted

Oh and +1 on the hoist for the intake install...I still have one sitting on the ground cause I'm not ambitious enough to deal with it yet

I never suspected a transmission would start a small war lol I'm still toying with the T5 idea...just a matter of waiting to find one relatively cheap and close... I emailed Wilcap regarding their adapter...it's still listed on their site but it (along with several others) are not linked to a produc...

Will the t85n swap with no modification?

I would love the T5 install...but am having a hard time justifying the cost...if I build out this 390 for UBER fun (hopefully in a short box at a later date) I'll have to seriously delve back into transmission options...I may leave this as it stands for now...it's not horrible...and just try to keep...

Truck isn't going to haul anything for sure...I have a big Ford Powerstroke that does all the heavy lifting... The TKO is gonna be $$$ here too...have looked into the ZF, but it too will require an adapter and modification...its really looking like a tranny swap is going to be more money/effort than...

Or I just found a whole rear axle from a 78 pick up with 2.75s for $125...would that be easier to swap?...I've not done any rear end work (giggle), so not sure what I'm in for to swap gears

I think the rear end change may end up being a pretty viable option...especially since I'm not really looking for performance, just a little better MPG and less RPM at highway speed... Per the FE forum (which is a pain to read BTW) the guys swapping to a 4 spd top loader and a 2.79 rear from a land ...

As long as you were able to either very accurately measure or mix enough to do your whole truck, you could theoretically mix up any color you wanted
