I have a set of shorty headers on my 66 f100 with a 351w and I had to put a small dent in one of the tubes on the drivers side to clear the gear box. I do have the newer style gearbox too so that might make a difference. goodluck

At first the dog hair was kind of a relief because I was expecting worse but then I thought about it and I wanted to kill the damn dog but then again it wasnt her fault I left the engine exposed in the garage. For the pan I think I am going to go to the local core supply and buy a pan for a early 70...

what Oil pan should I use?

Ok, I finally pulled the engine out of the 66 and found that my oil pressure problem was just the pickup tube clogged with dog hair. So that was a relief. Now that I got it out I want to change oil pans because it is hard to change the oil with the stock ltd front sump pan that was on the 351w origi...

Thanks that is what I was thinking. I knew the deck height was shorter on the 302 than the 351 but I had someone tell me they thought the distributors would interchange. Thanks I appreciate the help.

I am going to pull the 351w out of the 66 and check out the bottom end real good and possibly take the time and save up some extra money and stroke it but not realy sure yet. My question is will the MSD distributor in my 351 work in a later model 5.0 out of a lincoln. I was thinking about just getti...

My dad has a 1951 Ford F-1 with the original flathead thats been stroked has new oiling system, edelbrock heads, 4bbl, electronic ignition, and a C4 tranny. You have to pull the axles and all the nuts off holding the third member in and it comes right out with a little prying on it. The axles have 4 nuts on each side that hold them in the housing. I dont know If you can tow it once the 3rd member is out. Good luck

The motor is a 71 351w and it has a C6. The grinding noise I heard before came and went but now it is gone. Now it is making a new noise that sounds like it is coming from the 5th or 6th cylinder and it makes a Thump, Thump sound and I have from 5-10 psi of oil pressure at idle and when I rev it up ...

I dont think it is that because it has a brand new oil pump and shaft. but you never now.My dad said he thouught it might be a rod bearing because of the thump thump noise it is making. He said he had a 302 a long time ago that made that noise and thats what it was, But I dont know. I am going to ha...

You guys have got to be tired of hearing stupid questions from me but I really do appreciate the help. Ok I got the rocker arm problem taken care of and the cam broke in but now I might have an even bigger problem. While I was breaking the cam in I heard a weird grinding noise that would start and stop. It kinda sounded like gears grinding? Then I looked under neath to check for leaks when I was done...

Thanks for the replies. My cam was not from crane. It is a edelbrock performer. I have read through the instructions several times and all it says is to tighten them all the way if they are non-adjustable or just a half of a turn past zero clearance if they were adjustable. Thanks for any help

Rocker arm adjustment question

My truck has a 351w out of a 71 or 72 LTD. I cant figure out whether it has adjustable or non adjustable rocker arms. The instructions that came with the edelbrock cam said to tighten the rockr arms to zero clearance between the rocker and the pushrod/valve and then put an additional 1/2 turn if the...

Thanks for the replies. I set the initial timing at around 12 to 14 degrees. Then I connected the vacuum advance and checked the total timing and it was around 32-36 degrees. I am going to lean it out and if that does no good I guess I need to have it rejetted. Thanks again for the replies.
