Re: S10 frame

Lucky,
Thank you!!! The Jag idea sounds like the way to go to keep most of the truck in tact. What size calipers do they have and bolt pattern? Are they reasonable $ to get new ones and have them drilled??? Same with calipers?
Thanks again.

Re: S10 frame

Thanks everyone. Anyone looked at a early Dakota 5 lug frame?? Clip it?? Track width is just shy of 62. They can be had relatively cheap around here... Icky, I agree. I had purchased a CV front end for it, but did not like the wide stace. Now I am looking for a nice tucked in look, but yeah, the S10...

Re: S10 frame

William, I totally agree!! If $ was no object I would do a MII in a heartbeat. I'm in the realm of I have more time than money kinda thing.... Stay at home dad right now after being layed off. I have access to a entire s10 truck.... The s10 frames are strong and when boxed, real strong for a 1/2 ton...

S10 frame

Searched for this and did not find much info. I am now looking at using a entire S10 frame and drop it on my shortbed unibody. I like the narrow look of the front end to tuck wheels in as I want to drop truck a few inches. Can fab in my 9". Like the front end and endless upgrades to suspension ...

Re: 72 GM front end in unibody

Paul,
I will definitely look into the early Panther front ends....
Yeah, swapping entire frame off the Lemans is daunting as the frame extends way out wide and is curved, to flat like a truck frame.....
Thanks again Paul!!

Re: 72 GM front end in unibody

Paul, I had a cv front end but did not like the dimensions being too wide.. I want a real tucked in low look. Trying to find a happy medium... Not afraid of fabrication and welding and boxing in, etc.... The GM frame measures in at about 35" (outer) and our uni's outside frame measures about 31...

72 GM front end in unibody

Well, I have been going round and round on front ends... Cost, ease, etc.... Have a buddy who is willing to give me a 72 Pontiac Lemans (smashed in rear) front end with Disk brakes, etc... Pretty much donor car/ frame. Has anyone went this route??? Pro's /con's, etc, would be great... Width of this ...

Re: Crown Vic or Mustang II???

Paul, What years were those made??. Obviously pre '03, but curious how far back to look for. Is the width narrower than the '03 and later version?? Sounds like I have a pretty vast array of options to choose from... As a kid riding in my 62 truck ( given to me by my folks ) that straight axle was al...

Re: Crown Vic or Mustang II???

Thanks so much guys for the responses!!!! I figured I was going be welding no matter what (no biggie), but needed a solid direction to go.... Crown Vic or Mustang II???

Ok, I am at a crossroad... Read both arguments for and against.... The CV is a great front end and decently priced, but people say they are a bit wide and wheels are tough to find ( true??? ) Mustang II front ends are tried and true, but expensive.... Any input from anyone who has done either one???...
