My truck had a leaky oil pressure gauge when I got it, so the pedal moved freely.

Re: gear ratio for easier highway speed
on the rear end there is usually a tag with the ratio. I have a 63 f100 with a 300 inline 6, 3 speed manual, and a 2.80 rear out of a t-bird. I run fairly short tires (215/75r15) so my final drive ratio is about the same as someone with a bigger tire like a 235/75r15 and a 3.00. It seems like a 3.25...

Something is wrong in the speedometer head or the cable is slipping. I have never seen one that far off.

Re: 4 wheel drive conversions
Thanks, that's what I was thinking, finding a donor to pull everything off of. I probably won't do the conversion any time soon, but when the time comes, it will be a fun thing to have. New Mexico has literally thousands of miles of trails to explore, and it is almost a waste not to go 4 wheeling. I...

4 wheel drive conversions
What axles and other equipment were usually used to make a slick 4wd? When my solid front axle gets to be too much I would like to convert to 4wd rather than go to a modern suspension in the usual sense. Thanks.

Re: prothayne front leaf spring bushings for 61-64?
I haven't seen a kit, but you could probably piecemeal them together individually from one of the companies that makes them. You can buy the front end rubber sleeve bushings fairly cheap if you look around online. The 61 springs you have may have the small eye in the back. I was tempted to cut down ...

Re: Swapping mechanical fan for electric
If you have room run a puller fan, and have a thermostatic switch and a relay to run it. Since you have a basic engine with no power accessories or a/c, the fan will pretty much only run when you sit still for a while, or you shut it off and turn it back on. I ran a 14 inch pusher on my truck after ...

Re: Dash Knobs-couple ??'s
The DC inserts don't look bad at all. I bought some to model new ones after when I was making some glow in the dark inserts. That'll give me something to do when the 3D printer head is in the budget.

Re: Ford 223 "Mileage Maker" gas mileage
I swapped out the 223 for a 300, and on my trip to Slick Stock and back, even with mountains and high altitude I averaged 18.5 mpg after all was said and done. With the 223 and the right gears you can get good mileage. Fred (the guy Pat is talking about above) had a 223 with a t-5 behind it, and at ...

I have seen this in more than one truck. Not sure why they choose the slick dash.

Re: How to identify the gear ratio on a 9" rear diff.
If it is an open diff you can put it in neutral, parking brake off, chock the wheels, and jack one of the rear tires up off the ground. Mark the driveshaft yoke. Rotate the back tire that is off the ground and count how many times it takes for the driveshaft to go around once. Divide that number by ...

Does anyone know if a t98 can run a speedo gear off of a t18 or t19? If you could run the later gear you would have a lot of options.

Re: Neep some help on a dipstick tube 66 -240
easy to make a new tube out of 5/16 brake line, already has the nut and flare just get it longer than needed and use a tubing cutter on the top end after careful measuring of correct length. That crossed my mind right after I posted. The o ring that I put on the tube between the flare and the nut i...

Re: Neep some help on a dipstick tube 66 -240
I put an o ring on mine and tightened it down. I also flared the end with a screwdriver. It neither moves nor leaks. I also put a bracket on the tube near the top bolted to the lifter cover. Here is a picture, you might be able to see better what I am talking about with the bracket. I don't think yo...

Re: '65 F250, what did I get in to?
He means one of those kits that goes in the heater hose. You hook a garden hose to it, take off the radiator cap, turn on the hose and run the engine. Or something like that. Prestone makes them, and they explain it better in the directions on the back.
