Uh...I just found this thread by bmgc... http://slick60s.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28653&hilit=battery+getting+charge The alternator light must be functional for the battery to charge. Is the red light on the dash of a 66 the alternator light? And it will only work if that bulb is functional?

Stumped by the charging system.....

On my 66 f250 I put in a new 1) Alternator 2) Solenoid 3) Voltage regulator Still no charge to the battery. I've gone through the wiring 3 times now and everything seems to be hooked up correctly. Theres also an amp-meter gauge hooked up in the dash. It'll read when there is a draw, but I'm getting ...

The 65 stepside I had cost me 90 bucks every 6 months for insurance. I would've just drove that full time if wasn't for everything being covered in copious amounts of salt 6 months out of the year...

Congrats!! Looks good!! The tow rig looks good too!!! Thanks :D The 390 got a workout that day, as did the old drum brakes. I probably shouldve upgraded to discs before the tow :oops: nice score. the wheels look to be one piece. 16.5 or 16? I believe the wheels are 16, I'll have to double check tha...

I drive down 17 so I hit there too. I'm in security forces at the airbase in Newburgh. Only 3 more years of those one weekend a month drives... :bangin:

Thanks, good to know about the solid rims and different sizes. I think I'm gunna pull the trigger on it. The guy is gunna throw in a tool box and extra bench seat. I'm sure I'll be quite the site on the thruway towing a 66 home with my 74 lol 8)

Also Paul I believe this truck has 16 inch rims. I wasn't sure how hard it would be to find replacements if needed for 8 lugs.

Went and saw a real solid 66 F250 today I'm probably gunna pick up. 4 SPD I6 300(put in at some point for a 352 I think). 8 lug wheels. Geared wayyyyyy low. Ran good. But the fenders look funny to me. They were telling me they have higher clearance fenders? Does anyone else have a truck with that or...
