Re: Trying to determine payload

Well let’s see... mostly highway or backroad travel but some off-the-beaten-path as well. Just long weekend getaways up in the hills with my old man. Mostly envisioning a pop-up type camper, which I believe to be lighter than most hard-side campers. Definitely a short bed camper; keep it as small an...

Trying to determine payload

I have a ‘66 F110 4wd with a 5600 GVW rating from the VIN plate, and I’m trying to figure out how heavy of a small camper I can safely carry. I know they have 1/2-ton campers out there. I don’t really have a way of weighing the truck locally so I was just wondering what anyone here has come up with ...

Speaker screws

Just looking for a correct set of the machine screws and nuts that mount the factory speaker and speaker grill to the dash. Last part of the radio I need.

Re: Thoughts on a sway bar?

My '66 4x4 has a front sway bar from (I think it was) a '79 Bronco I stumbled across on eBay awhile back. LOVE the difference... just takes the roll right out of turns.

Re: Parking light lenses.

Well I guess I should check local laws... I've had a set of NOS clear front parking lenses for awhile for my '66. Even bought a set of amber bulbs. I figured I'd be okay to use them since the early '70s dent-sides used clear parking lenses. Guess I'll look into it further before installing. That is,...

Re: Floor mat

Still worth it I think, especially at $124. eBay has (a pricey) one I've been keeping in my watch list, but I don't know the manufacturer. I personally prefer rubber floor mats (despite having a Ranger clone) just for the "spilt coke" factor, as well as the "hard to keep carpets clean...

Re: Backup lights NP435

No problem Corey. Any '61- '64 will have them, as well as '65 4x4s & 350s, and '66 F-250 4x4s & 350s. Guys, correct me if I'm wrong on that for the cable-actuated kick panel vents.

Re: Attention Ranger Fans, trucks that is

Seems like the Ranger package was first offered in the mid- to late-'65 model year, like June or July, which would make sense that there were more '66 Rangers produced. Ford played around with bucket seat and console packages in '64 (and maybe even '63?) but they hadn't called them Rangers until '65...

Re: Backup lights NP435

Hey Corey, haven't gotten out to my truck yet but just came across this on eBay... does this help? Let me know if you'd still like pics of my actual application, no problem, but this should give you the general idea of the vent cable mechanism at the kick panel. I'll probably be going out to where m...

Exactly... no such thing as useless/worthless info, and no such thing as stealing ideas 'round here... only sharing them (far as I'm concerned). Lord knows I've "stolen" my share from all you guys, so I kinda have to call it "sharing"!! Eh... besides, the red stripe isn't even my...

Re: Backup lights NP435

Hey Corey... Thanks! It's a '66 tho... I did the red stripe in the side trim myself, just because I like that touch on the '64s too. One more way Ford was saving money in '65 & '66 by eliminating the red stripes in the side trim, along with discontinuing the cabled kick panel vents (personally I...

Re: Backup lights NP435

I did this top cover swap years ago on my '65 F-250, and of course now that you mentioned the shifter needing to be replaced along with the cover, naturally only then do I remember having to deal with that as well. My current '66 4x4 already had that upgrade done to it when I got it, but the switch ...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??

Chris; Seems like you could add a temp control cable if you changed out the valve under the hood but for the DEF to control via cable, you'd need the deluxe box... no way to swing the DEF lever on a standard heater box via cable, I don't think. Swapping out the box isn't too big a deal though. John;...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??

Originally, no... it just had the basic heater where you reached underneath to the heater box to turn the defrost on and off. I got a deluxe heater box with all the control cables and installed it some time ago. I got a second set of deluxe heater controls from a parts guy recently in Sacramento for...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??

Ok I know...Old topic, but still fun... so, the only thing I don't care for in the '65s & '66s over the '61s-'64s was the change from the cable-operated air vents to the reach-down style air vents; particularly on the passenger side... WAY out of reach. I was able to acquire a set of the old sty...
