Re: what is being planned

Anyone with an eye toward old stuff and history (and maybe not repeating it) would be well served to hit the WWI memorial museum here (largest in USA), and the Union Station is nice to stroll through too. They are close to each other. Let me know if there is interest. I'd be up for leading a WWI or ...

Re: Slick Stock 8 Information REVISED!

Newbie question. What exactly goes on at SlickStock? I'd like to go, but I don't know why. Mostly beer and old ford trucks? :D Well, as of last night, being that Gerry (Casey 65) reached out to me and made me aware that SS was in KC again, I have came out of hiding and we are planning to offer some...

Apologies. Ain't going to make it ......

Well, for several months I had hoped to sneak in a last minute visit. But I decided my last/youngest daughter starting college was priority and spent the last few days in St Louis instead. Best of fun to all of you. Should anyone need help or love in KC area, please as always call, 816, 654, 3146.....

Re: Carburetor Alternatives???

Carter YF is the way to go. I spent $400 having my Autolite 1101 rebuilt by PonyCarbs, a place that is famous for rebuilding precious Mustang carbs (Autolite 1100 was in them too). Even after their famous rebuild, it never ran as well as several of my YFs (I was a carboholic for a while). Mid 2000's...

Re: Sources for stainless wiper blades

I am bumping this old thread cause its the last one that seemed appropriate to my question. I brought my pickup back from western KS where it spend the last 3 years since SS-12. I needed space for kids vehicles and horse trailer etc.... But kids are growing up and horse is gone.... I drove through a...

Re: Carter YF-1 barrel,Couple questions....

Do you really want the most primitive version of automatic choke that ever existed? You are trying to implement it!! Those suckers were nothing but trouble. There were aftermarket conversion kits, you might find one at an old parts place or on eBay, that gutted the bimetallic choke spring and allowe...

Re: Info on the 'Pertronics' ignition system.............

The Pertronix setup allows for the closest appearance to stock that you can get with electronic. Duraspark set ups in their various forms, either using the Duraspark dizzy and module, or the Dizzy with some other aftermarket module will get you a potentially "better" product. Maybe more re...

Re: 66 f100 master cylinder

I have had a single chamber brake cylinder fail on me once -- as a teenager backing out of a drive and my buddy hollers "Hey there's a semi coming". So I hit the brakes hard -- and got the most sickening feeling in my stomach as the brake pedal went to the floor and the car just continued ...

Re: Ezer's delima...

Hmmmm... I actually regret "restoring" my 65 at times. But hard to disagree with doing what you want... Perhaps Ezer would like to trade his truck for my 65 and then he could drop a honkin' stroked 460 in there and I could have his original??? The thought runs through my head after reading...

Re: Power steering Pump

However, here, it refers specifically to a 1969 redesign of the PS pump, with NEW testing proceedures. One should assume I think that there were valid reasons why it was redesigned.... Likely not due to polution or some such reason... m I think its possible that the older pump will work. I suspect t...

Re: C4 Hard Shifts/Noise

Interesting thread -- I got a used but newly rebuilt C4 from a wrecked Mustang that I put into my 65 4 years ago. Shifts hard under hard acceleration, but OK when driving modestly. I was told by the seller it has a shift kit. Maybe the Transgo then. I get that sort of clang too at times -- my u-join...

Re: Where did you get your "LOVE for old trucks" from....

Nice thread... I don't really know from where or how I got my love. It was always there, the 65. I cracked the windshield at age 3 cause I could not get the jar open my mom had put cereal in for me to snack on, while they were working as I looked on from the truck -- threw the jar at the windshield ...

Re: Power steering shaft length

I went and measured my stash. These are for F-100. If the F-250 is different, someone speak up. But I think they are the same, assuming 2 wheel drive. I have no clue what happens up front to a 4x4. 2x 65 floor shift, manual steering, 35 5/8" measured with the tape hooked on the rag joint flange...

Re: PFM's 65 Crew Cab F250

Update on tranny. I still have it. I called the shop Friday since I hadn't heard from them. Turns out the owner's grand daughter (21 with 1 1/2 child) found out she had terminal cancer and he said he hasn't done anything more on getting my tranny shipped up there. He did say he wants to get it ther...

Re: Needing a oil pan for 240 cid from 65 f100

I have one from a later model truck. $20.00 Plus Shipping if you want it. Me, I'd pay the $20 to avoid the boneyard and gas getting there! But its true, the local pick and pull will almost certainly have one -- except you have to either lift the engine, OR manage to get your hand into the pan and r...

Re: Needing a oil pan for 240 cid from 65 f100

Gads -- tons of years from 240 and 300 engines will fit. The block did not change much. IIRC, there may some changes to the seals that might effect the very latest engines, but even that is just a matter of getting the right seal I think. I put a late 70's 300 pan on my 240 since it was a quart more...

Awful quiet here.... Thanks again to Gerry for a great job at setting things up and to all you wonderful folks that came. For me, the highlight was tearing down and putting Chris's tranny back in. Really a bummer that it didn't work out, but the sight of everyone pitching in and working together was...
