Blind Nuts

Installed a brand new speedometer on the old girl and looks like i can use a handful of the little blind nuts that fastens the instrument panel to the dashboard. Anybody have any information on this?

Re: old truck run

Beautiful old trucks. Kinda odd with the steering wheel on the wrong side, but that is a 'Redneck' 'Arkansas' 'Hillbilly's' observation.

Re: Exhaust manifolds are toast....................

As always, yer input on the matter is invaluable 'Paul'. Both valves opening and closing properly when i ran it with the cover off. Pushrods seem good as well. It has a definitive 'clicking' noise in the head, not usual valve train noise because i do know the difference. There are no exhaust leaks ...

Re: Exhaust manifolds are toast....................

FE's are famous or infamous for bending pushrods. Check that first. New exhaust manifolds are available on ebay for reasonable prices. Personal opinion and I know everyone has one but headders can be a real PITA. Think that one over before you make your move. IMHO. Yeah they are, and ive already th...

Re: Exhaust manifolds are toast....................

Paul i havent even pulled the valve cover off yet. This started week before last after taking a trip down south for a christmas party. Havent really had the time to do some careful troubleshooting to see whats up yet but i will. Barnietrk's observation is sound when comparing headers to cast iron O...

Exhaust manifolds are toast....................

Good morning to all. The exhaust manifolds on 'Limestone' is toast, particularly on the drivers side and bolted to the same head that had gave me all the problems to begin with. My fault for not changing them out when i had the chance whilst it were down, now i lost compression in number 7 cylinder...

Re: engine preference??

Yer gonna get better mileage with the inline 6 and 3-spd combo, maybe 15 mpg and up. But you need to ask yourself 'What' you really want yer slick to do. With me it was easy because i wanted a truck that can pull a camper and haul one of my bikes. Enter 'Limestone' my 1966 F-250, 352 motor and NP43...

Re: Your First Slick?

Good thread and lotsa memories you guys have. I've had many vehicles in various states of disrepair over the years, most of them Fords. But my 'first' slick was my 61 uni longbox i bought from my neighbor for 500 bucks. Back in those days you could buy a good running old truck for under a grand, li...

Re: LOL never knew a slick was in this Video!

Too funny....And if you watch the whole Video..they use at least 2 differnt trucks....It is a 64 most of the time, but at 1:54 and again at 3:47 when they jump thru both times if you pause it you will see it is a 65-66 truck with twin I'beam up front... Good eyes. Video was cool until the slick ble...

Windshield wipers................

Quick question. What years of the Ford trucks windshield wiper arms will fit our slicks. Stopped for my morning coffee before heading to work under hazy and foggy weather, and the drivers side wiper arm fell off and landed in the middle of the road. Me and 'Limestone' made a quick u-turn and went l...

Re: Got a set of stock wheels and hubcaps for $40 for my 250

Same here 'Lucky23'. Cept for my 05 Deluxe. If you decide to do this yerself be careful with them lock rings and do'nt get in any kind of hurry. They are made to take off with primitive tire tools and a big hammer. Lay them down flat and stand on the ring using yer body weight as pressure and gentl...

Like you 'Oregoon', ima learnin too, but i beleive the flasher relay goes into the fuse panel tucked up under the dashboard. Look for the 'L' shaped slots and it plugs into that on the fuse box.
