Re: Cowl to hood seal
When I did mine, I used my original seal as a template to mark nail placement. The new nails held firm in the existing holes with out any problems.

Re: Carpet/Rubber mat underlayment options
I used the peal & seal on my truck. Applied well to the floors, inside of doors and roof. The only draw back to this material is the asphault smell. It does mellow, & the gas smell from having an in cab fuel tank masks it pretty well anyway.

Re: Division Bar Redo..
The division bars included with the rebuild kit I purchased for my truck seem really flimsy compaired to the originals... I was considering doing something like this, to see someone already has just confirms it for me. Great post!

Re: Were the rubber mats screwed in around the perimeter
When I tore the original mat out of my 65 it had them. 2 at the top of the passenger side, 1 at the top of the driver... None at the seat.

Re: Cast iron rust removal
If you're without a blast cabinet, you can wire brush the parts good and then wipe them down with a rust inhibitor like Rust-mort or corroseal before you paint.

Re: up above 10,000 feet
Before tearing it down for restoration I ran my F-250 from Hilo 5 ft above sea level, to the summet of Mauna Kea 14,000 ft above sea level, back down to Kailua Kona 3ft above sea level..... All in the same day. I had to get out and play with the carb a few times, but she made the trip just fine.

Re: replacement radio
There are also several vintage radio repair shops that offer a FMR-1 conversion that gives your existing radio modern stereo capabilities. It's reversable if your ever want to go back to stock. I have yet to price the conversion, but imagine it's the direction I'll go with my f-250.

Re: questian about cab mounts
I wondered the same.... Got one of those kits off ebay. They fit the frame holes nice, but some modification was required to make them work with the existing hardware. Aloha Julie!
I am also in the process of restoring a 65 F-250 Custom Cab, Camper Special in Caribbean Turquoise and Wimbeldon White. I'm missing a few things, but fairly complete. Don't have an extra horn, but if you ever need reference photos or anything let me know.... Happy to help!
Cheers!

I didn't find any traces of paint on the case of my 65 F250's 4 speed. Just a few inspection marks. Bell housing was dark for blue.
