Stuck Inlet Valve/Crankcase Cleaning
Just a tale of woe and frustration. I have Been driving the other cars so my 65 has sat likely a month or more. This morning I went to start it and it cranked up and sounded horrible, I started to back up just as it died and I coasted backwards blocking my neighbors driveway. It stalled out and had ...

Mine is on daily driver status for the winter. Starts right up in the cold and goes great. We don't get much salt here.

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
^Would you be interested in sharing how you added an aux input? I have done some write ups before but can't find at the moment. Here is one for other radios: http://autoxer.skiblack.com/nallm/mp3jackinamfm.htm In our case it is a red wire not light blue. It's pretty simple overall. Glad to answer a...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
Finally got sick and tired of listening to AM -- so I added and auxiliary input line to the stock radio. Now I can listen to whatever I want and still have the stock radio. With a new speaker it sounds pretty decent.

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
GJ1963, 195*F stat is NOT stock for your 300, is it? Are you using a fan shroud with your new fan & clutch combo? BarnieTrk Last year this time, the engine would never warm up. I went to replace the thermostat and it was missing. Thinking about it I seem to remember that I had bought a 195 assu...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
Yesterday I added a thermostatic fan clutch and corresponding fan blade to the 300 in my '65. I have been concerned about it not getting warm enough. Today I pulled the thermostat that I had put in last year. I forgot what temp it was. It is a 195. I tested it in a pan of water and it opened right a...

1965 300 Water Pump
The water pump on the '65 300 6 in my truck was not leaking, but I noticed some slop in the bearing the other day when changing the alternator. Since the truck sat for 30 years with an open cooling system, I figured it should be replaced. I got one from local auto parts store. The hub height is wron...

Re: Alternator Harness?
The rest of the story..... Cold windy day here - without many plans. Decided to dig into this. I was completely wrong on the wire - but hadn't been able to tell what it was since it was all burned up. I pulled the harness out and stripped it down. The wire that was burned was a ground wire from the ...

That appears to be it! I may make my own or just splice in new wiring to what is there.

Alternator Harness?
I got my '65 out today after it has sat over most of the summer. I plan on driving as my daily driver over winter now. I replaced the alternator, as it was pretty corroded looking and had a bad capacitor that made the radio buzz. Nice and quiet now with a new one. I noticed the output wire had gotte...

Inlet on the 1100 carburetor on the 300 in my '65 when I got it was just about stripped. Finally let go today. So I guess I need a whole new top. Where is a good place to find one? Anyone have a old carb core / top for sale? Thanks Pretty used to this truck being reliable and on the road so hope it'...

Re: Stock Radio Install
Thank you!!! That's what I needed to figure it out. It's not luck but completely unexplainable as to why the nylon gear did not shatter when I took it apart. I am now rocking out to AM radios finest. Until I get frustrated and take it back apart to add a aux in line. Christine moment - when I got th...

Stock Radio Install
Looking for some guidance or point to a good thread. Need to reinstall the stock bezel on my radio, and can't figure out how to line up the small brass gear to the bezel gear. Took it out to replace the speaker, check the capacitors and clean it up. Also put in a new antenna. http://farm9.staticflic...
