Re: what is the extra shifter for
I was originally thinking OD as well, but it looks kind of short, like it would be difficult to reach. So based on that I am guessing PTO? I saw a Willys 4x4 at a car show last week with 5 shifters. I had to ask the owner....manual transmission, OD, PTO, 4WD, and High/Low range. That's a lot of shif...

Re: MIG Welders: Flux vs. Gas
I have the same Lincoln 140 that Iceman mentioned above. It's a 110V machine, and will do either flux or gas. It's about $550 at Home Depot, which is where I got mine. It came with the regulators to do gas, so you would just need to buy/rent a tank. My welding experience is limited, but as others ha...

Radiator upgrade in my '66
I have a '66 F100 with a stock 240 engine and 4 speed. In the summer, the truck tends to run hot, especially climbing hills (which is pretty much unavoidable here on the front range of the Rockies. A quick cruise could easily involve 2,000 feet of elevation gain). The stock radiator has clearly seen...

Re: US General toolboxes - anyone have one?
I have the 44" US General/Harbor Freight bottom roller. I've had it for about 3 years, and it's been great. I looked at new Craftsman boxes in Sears, and I honestly think the HF boxes are sturdier. FYI, you can no longer use the HF 20% off coupons on toolboxes, but they go on sale pretty often....

Re: My 66 f100 project Sick Up
Hey, a fellow Denverite with a '66! I like the truck, sounds like a great project. Little change of plans from the first post, huh? EFI/turbo should be fun! BTW, it looks like you removed the toolbox. I was actually thinking of ADDING one to my '66, but I may be crazy. Good luck with your project!

Re: Grill guard
Hey, that grille guard looks familiar! Glad to see you got it mounted, looks great. FYI, on my '66, there were no spacers between the bumper and the guard. The bumper guards look good too.

Re: Aftermarket 3 point seatbelt question
Thanks! That is very helpful. I need to take another look at mine and take some measurements.

Aftermarket 3 point seatbelt question
Thanks in advance for your help. If this has been answered somewhere already, sorry. I did a search on the forum and didn't find an answer to my question. So I have decided to install aftermarket 3-point (shoulder) seatbelts in my '66 slick with a bench seat. I found this company online, and there a...

Re: carpet?
I will be watching this thread closely, because I have the exact same question (although my truck is a little different from the OP's...'66, bench seat, tank in the cab) I was looking at the carpets that LMC sells, but it's just really difficult to discern quality by looking at a catalog. And I have...

Re: Gas Tanks and Spare Tires, What Goes Where?
Yes, exactly. Bolts to the floor of the bed and the top rail. Mine is on the passenger side just behind the cab, but I've seen them mounted on the D/S and towards the rear.

Re: Gas Tanks and Spare Tires, What Goes Where?
Can't help with the fuel tank, mine is still in the cab. But when I bought my '66, it had the same "spare rolling around in the bed asking to be stolen" issue. My truck came with an in-bed spare mount, but the bottom was completely rusted away. I found an NOS replacement mount online. Then...

Re: 2.89 gears...
I am in a similar situation. My truck ('66 F100 4 speed with a 240) is currently rocking 4.10 gears. Needless to say, not exactly highway or gas mileage friendly. I am also on the lookout for a good 3rd member, but I was thinking something in the neighborhood of 3.25 would be a good compromise betwe...
