Re: 5.0 swap (1995 SD)

If your looking for an intake swap, the Explorer intake is the best bang for the buck. It's the same internally as the GT40/Cobra intake.

Re: Upgrade seats

I've seen a few with 90's F150 seats. I believe the some of the Eddie Bauer and XLT F150s had a bench with a folding center armrest and inflating lumbar support.

Fordification has some good reference pics here: http://www.fordification.com/tech/seats.htm

Re: front wheel size

Mine isn't lowered, well except for what 50 years has done to the front springs. I'd say go with a 7 inch wheel and whatever height tire you need to keep from rubbing.

Re: front wheel size

I run 235/70's up front on 7 inch wide wheels and 275/60 on the rear on 8 inch wide wheels. I like it because the tires are all the same diameter.

Re: 65-66 core support

How backwards is that. I have a 65, and I would want 66 radiator brackets. You can get a 66 radiator at any parts house, but can't find one for a 65.

Re: new radio anyone?

Here's some discussion I found on the Retro Sound Model Two, I'm sure its the same internally as the one they sell for our trucks. http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c3-general/3275579-retrosound-model-2-radio.html Lots of complaints about having to send the radio back after it quit working. It's e...

Re: new radio anyone?

I really like the idea behind the retrosound radio. I thought about getting one for our ranchero, but saw a lot of complaints when I looked into them. Seemed like there were lots of returns and things that never worked quite right about them.

New Speedhut Gauges and Classic Dash

I've been thinking about ditching my digital gauges for something that looks more at home in a 1965 F100. So, I swapped my digital gauges for some from Speedhut. I used the brushed aluminum inset from classic dash. Its a plastic insert with a brushed aluminum finish, I'm guessing the brushed aluminu...

Re: fi 302/aod conversion

I have a 302 and AOD in my 65, no EFI, yet. You can use engine stands from a 70's truck with a 302. My AOD worked with the C6 cross member and a transmission mount with slotted bolt holes, I also needed a new drive shaft. I had to change the shifter arm on my transmission to make it work with the au...

Re: If you had about $500 and could pick any used engine ...

I'd go with a late 90s Explorer 5.0. They are affordable, and come with a roller cam and gt40 heads. Keep the EFI or convert to carb, then back it with an AOD or 5 speed. My other, more exotic choice, would be a Cummins 4bt, but they are harder to find and more expensive. It's probably cheaper to hu...

Re: Headers

I'm using Hooker full length headers for a 70's F100 in my 65.

If they where available at the time, I would have tried the OBX headers. They look like a better product for less money.

If you do use the OBX headers, please let us know how they fit on a twin I-Beam truck.

Re: Pate Swap meet

The countdown is on, April starts next week, looking forward to seeing everyone again. I've got my room booked and spots reserved. I was hoping to drive my 65 again this year, but its got a few nagging issues that I don't think I'll have sorted in time.

Re: 1979 F150 for parts?

Power steering if its got it. With power steering you would need a column for a 3 speed and power steering, or you can swap in the transmission and auto column. Sway bars if it happens to have them, but I think those are usually found on camper specials.

Re: Fuel cells

I put a 19 gallon fuel cell inside of a low profile toolbox in my bed. I sandwiched the floor of the tool box with some steel flat stock for help supporting the fuel cell. It takes up a little less than half of the tool box. The only bad thing is my tool box ends up smelling like gas even with the f...

Re: Racing and car show in Houston?

Just saw this, so I missed going. I like the idea, kind of like the LS fest or weekend cruise/race Year One use to put on. If I had seen this before hand, I would have gone to support the even. Did anyone end up going? How was it?

Gerald, hope to see you next year. Guess we'll have some new neighbors this year, I think we've set up next to Gerald for the last four or five years.

Looking forward to seeing everyone else this weekend.

Re: Bumpers and Grills

Powder coat? I thought about doing it to mine but instead went the labor intensive, time consuming polishing route. I think a silver, grey, or hammer tone finish for the grill and side moldings would look good. I don't think it would be too expensive if you stripped the anodizing and smoothed out th...

Re: '74 brake hoses too short for '66 f100

When I did my swap I took the hoses down to NAPA and we matched them to a longer set that had the same fittings on each end. I think the ones I found that worked ended up being from a Dodge van from the 70's or 80's.

I've sense swapped them for stainless lines that I ordered from Summit.
