'65-'66 Disc brake conversion on eBay
Hey all, Noticed this on eBay this morning- a company called Scarebird is selling a new disc brake conversion bracket/rotor/caliper setup for the '65-'66s. Haven't had experience with this company, but thought to pass it along for those that might be interested. I'm assuming that you'd also need a n...

Re: Frame rail ripples/waves?
Hey, thanks - those ripples were hiding under dirt and rust, and I wasn't sure what to make of them at first. As far as the frame is concerned, I've measured in cross-patterns around the frame, and everything seems square. I used a level on the cross members near the bed area, and all of them show t...

Re: New member, new project, old truck.
More slow progress - finally turned the corner with tear down and have the front clip disassembled after a lot of broken clips and swearing and rounded-off bolts. Looks like the core support is worse than I thought - bad rust along the bottom rail as well as in a few spots along the bracket that con...

Frame rail ripples/waves?
Hey all - so, took the angle grinder clean-and-strip wheel to my '66 F-100's frame yesterday, and noticed something on the top frame rail between cab mounts (above the transmission crossmember). Looks like the frame has a slight "ripple" or "wave" (see below)- I can't imagine tha...

Re: Another way to fix core supports?
I do have a lot of angle stock handy, so I might be able to do something like this. Either way, I'll probably try to patch the '66 support that I have. Thanks for the advice! I'll report back with my findings.

Re: GONNA START ON THE REAR TONIGHT
If you have the driveshaft disconnected, you can just jack up the rear axle and measure the number of revolutions of the wheel per full revolution of the rear axle yoke. 3 3/4 = 3.73, 3 1/2 = 3.5, 3 1/4 = 3.25, and so on. There's also info on the driver's door warranty tag pertaining to rear axle ra...

Another way to fix core supports?
Hey all - forgive me if this has been discussed before, but, like many of you, I have core support issues with my '66. I've seen a lot of posts about re-configuring the '64 supports to fit the '66 inner fenders, modifying the radiator mounting brackets and the battery tray, and so forth. I've notice...

Re: New member, new project, old truck.
Oh yeah - very fortunate to have that space to work in. It's a building on the family farm that I've spent the last year or so cleaning out and fixing up. It housed my grandfather's manufacturing business when I was a kid. Still have a long way to go, but it's nice to breathe a little life into that...

Re: New member, new project, old truck.
Long time with no update! I'm slowly but steadily disassembling the truck and getting it down to its frame. So far, no big surprises. Last month, I took the cab off of the frame with my trusty frame hoist. Cab mounting bolts were essentially rusted beyond hope, so I had to break out the Sawzall and ...

Wow, this looks great! As someone who works with Photoshop pretty frequently, I'm really impressed with the level of skill here. Cool bike, too.

Ride along in a Ford GT40, ca. 1968
Not Slick60s related, but man, how cool. In-car footage of a lap around LeMans in a Ford GT40. Love that engine sound.
Actual race footage, too. Enjoy!

Re: Longbed to Shortbed, '65/'66
Thanks for the advice, everyone. William, you know, I hadn't thought about difficult with state inspections. Would be a really unpleasant surprise to have it rejected once everything was buttoned up. That said, right now I'm thinking that I'll keep this one a long bed. Don't want to get in too far o...

Longbed to Shortbed, '65/'66
Hey all, So, I know that this has been asked a lot before, but I'm having trouble finding lots of solid information about this. I've been thinking about doing the longbed-to-shortbed conversion on my '66 F-100. Still not sold on the idea (longbeds can be cool too), but if I were to go ahead with thi...

Re: Difference between a custom cab and a standard cab?
My understanding is that the Custom Cab is just a nicer trim level. Chrome bumpers and grille, sweep speedometer, "Custom Cab" script on the door, special door handles, etc. I don't think that there are any sheet metal differences between the two - floors should actually be the same. I don...

Re: New member, new project, old truck.
Thanks! My grandfather bought that Ford 3000 new in '70 or '71. Still runs great, still used around the farm. There's also an 8n/9n/something-N hanging around that I need to ID. I'll take a photo of it next time I'm out there.

Re: New member, new project, old truck.
Made a little progress today. Got the bed off of the truck, and moved it to its temporary home next to the front clip. In retrospect, I probably should have thought through the whole lifting-with-an-engine-hoist process a bit more thoroughly. Moving the hoist around with that bed on the other end of...

Re: New member, new project, old truck.
Alright folks - get to work on the truck all day tomorrow. Plan is to remove the bed, which leads me to a couple of questions. First, any extra tips for removing the bed? Anything to watch out for? I know that these bolts are likely going to be a real pain. Second, from the photos in my first post, ...
