Re: why are those 2 tiny wires hanging there

Luckily Brian, you are an uber smart guy with a lot of friends/contacts. McGyvers like you usually come out on top when problems arise. Me? I spend 2 hours dismantling the instrument panel before it dawns on me to check the fuse. Presto! Hazards, courtesy light and cig lighter all back on line, LOL.

Re: Pulling my 352

Hi Dan, I haven't been on the forum for a while but I'm getting the '65 ready for a local show which got me thinking about all you guys again. Your project is coming along! Congrats on diving in like that. Takes me back to my starting point where i was using a putty knife to remove 50 years of oil a...

Re: Neutral safety switch deamons

Yeah, good point, Paul. The emergency brake is there for a reason, after all. I'll look into the linkage, good idea. Thanks, guys.

Neutral safety switch deamons

I seem to be having trouble with my neutral safety switch (cruise-o-matic automatic). With the shifter in park it will sometimes pop out and into reverse. I also have to jiggle the shifter to get it in just the right spot to start the truck. Because of this I have been putting the truck in neutral b...

Re: ebay prices what are they smoking????

Hadn't been on eBay for a while but I didn't think the prices were insane, just overpriced. I checked things out after reading your post and GEEZE! I found what I thought was a windshield with chrome trim for 299.00. O.K. Not bad so I checked what it would take to ship something that big...$15???? W...

Re: Wiring for hazards

I sure did. The schematics were really important. Of course, they illustrated just one of the many ways the hazards could be wired and my hazards didn't conform to that. I got my biggest help from a '66 Mustang schematic that I found on the web. Maybe I get spoiled with Utube and all. It seems like ...

Re: todays score

Geeze, what a score. I got 2 of mine in a town about an hour away, 1 from North Carolina, 1 from Tom and a nice guy on Craigslist shipped me one from Wisconsin. It only took 6 months to round all 5 up.

Re: Wiring for hazards

Good advice. With the new wiring harness, the wires are the same size. I took it to the back of the lighter because it was easily available and it shows that configuration on a '66 Mustang schematic that helped me figure out the wiring. As a side note - it took me longer to get that infernal hazard ...

Re: Wiring for hazards

That's for sure, Brian. It seems that there were at least 4 ways the hazards were wired in 1965. They were an option so the dealership could add them after the sale. I did figure out how to wire my particular hazards harness to the column plug to get them to work and I'll share that here for anyone ...

Re: Ford 223 Exhaust - Intake gasket

I have been told by a respected and experienced old Ford mechanic that there were no gaskets on the exhaust manifolds when our trucks were built. I followed that up with some research on-line and did find some supporting info to that effect. Since my '65 is over 50 years old it seemed to me that the...

Re: Wiring for hazards

I may have winnowed a bit of info from a Mustang site. As I understand it, power goes into the flasher can and out to the switch. The switch then has 3 leads that go to the front left turn signal, front right turn signal and rear brake lights. Does this make sense? It almost seems too simple. The tw...

Wiring for hazards

I am down to the last sticky issue with my new wiring harness. The company I bought it from offers no help with wiring the hazards, saying that there are too many configurations for them to be able to adequately offer help. So, what I did today was to make a wiring diagram of the little hazard wirin...

Re: Aftermarket Wire Harness.........?'s

I just finished re-wiring my '65 with a Kwikwire 14 circuit kit. I have never done anything like that before so everything was new. I needed some help from this forum on a couple of points and the company was very good at answering questions. The only thing that is unfinished is the hazard lights. K...

Re: Turn signal indicator wiring

Got it!!!! It finally hit me when I re-read Toyz post that said "With the custom cab dash, the bulb grounds thru the opposite circuit". I was totally stuck wondering where the ground would come from if I used both wires on the socket for power input. Since the ground comes from the opposit...

No such luck on the jumper wire. This must be my missing link. How did the wiring go?

Re: Turn signal indicator wiring

Hi Paul,

Every socket that was on my old wiring harness was a single wire if it was a metal socket and 2 wire if it was plastic. The second wire on the plastic is to ground, right? I think I need either a 2 wire metal or a 3 wire plastic?

Turn signal indicator wiring

I have conquered most of the demons in my new wiring but I have one that really confuses me (there will probably be others but I'm getting close). How do I get the turn signal indicator to indicate both left and right turns? At first I spliced both left and right together going into the bulb. That m...

That's what I had figured but when you have a bunch of guru's who have been through it all before it would be silly not to ask. Thanks for the input.

Brake line vibration coil

I have replaced nearly everything in my brake system while retaining drum brakes all around. I added a dual pot master cylinder and ran new brake lines putting a vibration coil on the front brake side out of the MC and on the back line coming from the MC I slipped a piece of rubber hose over the lin...
