Re: Disappointed in Dennis Carpenter Mirror
I tried to call them yesterday but it was after hours. I put the mirror on the truck and it looks good. Overall, it's very nice so I guess I'm really not that disappointed. I think it may just be the mount, but it's hard to tell. The casting on the stem looks very similar to the casting on the mount...

Disappointed in Dennis Carpenter Mirror
I ordered a new outside rear view mirror from Dennis Carpenter this past week. Their price was a little higher than some others but I've ordered from them before and everything always seemed top notch. Their website claims that the mirror is MADE IN THE USA from original Ford tooling. In fact this i...

Re: A couple wiring questions
You shouldn't bypass the starter relay. The ignition switch wires are too small gauge to handle the starting current. They will melt. Heat shrink on the blades would be better than black tape, but the whole switch can be replaced for under 20 dollars.

Re: Volt meter 101
That's a good multi-tester. I think you plug the red lead into the red circled port on the left marked DC and the black lead into the center port. What you need is a timing light. It sounds almost certainly like your timing slipped. Maybe the mechanic didn't tighten down the distributor mounting bol...

Cold start video
Fire it up? Don't mind if I do.
A little bit of lifter noise in there. Doesn't really bother me.

Before and After
Before and after pictures of my headlight relay install. Low beams in both shots. Really brought out the white light. http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?mode=thumbnail&album_id=753&image_id=11536 http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?mode=thumbnail&album_id=753&image_id=11...

Re: Easy question about parking lights.
What I did was find an led lamp that fit inside the existing trim. I already had already put LED lights on my flatbed several years ago and like them a lot. They are really bright and look very sharp. You can see what I did in the pictures below. I actually drilled through the the center out of the ...

Re: Easy question about parking lights.
Thanks Paul, I think I'm going to go with having them off. I changed my park/turn lights to LED's and to me the turn signals don't seem as clear when the headlights and parking lights are on all at the same time.

Re: Easy question about parking lights.
Thanks Tom, I kind of hope that's right. I've wired it both ways today and to me it looks better with the front parking lights off. The switch seems to have 2 feed wires, one for tail lights that is on when the headlights are on and one that goes out with the headlights. At first I thought it was a ...

Easy question about parking lights.
I'm doing some rewiring and adding relays and I need to know if the front parking lights on a 66 are supposed to be on when the headlights are on or if they are only on in the "parking light" position. I can set it up either way, just not sure which is right.

Headlight relay schematic?
I've been searching through old posts on the forum trying to find a drawing or instructions for adding headlight relays. Found lots of posts with dead links that looked like they might have been drawings or schematics. I'll keep searching but maybe someone can save me some time. Not looking to buy a...

Battery Box Repair.
Repaired the battery box on my 66 F350. I had planned to build a new one, but decided it would be more interesting to do the repair. Before: http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?mode=thumbnail&album_id=753&image_id=11521 Before: http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?mode=thumbnail&a...

Re: Help from anyone in New Jersey?
Just looking for one. I have five already. Truck is ready to go on the road when I have the rim. Rims are BUDD 79120. They are 17.5"X5.25 with 6 lugs at 7.25 spacing. the offset is 4.75 I think. This is a picture of what I'm looking for. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Knn6Ppn9b8k/UyRBOjQFxFI/AAAAAAA...

Re: Help from anyone in New Jersey?
After some discussion with the seller, he agreed to ship me a rim. Unfortunately the shipping is probably going to cost more than the rim but we will see.

Help from anyone in New Jersey?
This guy has the tubeless rims I am looking for and is parting out the truck. Not sure if he will want to ship. I left him a voicemail and a text message. It's a 10 hour drive for me, but I'm thinking about it. If you are in New Jersey and can help me out if he won't ship the parts that would be awe...
