Re: 1964 Lower Cowl Repairs

I made the lower pillar pieces the other day.. It is a bit complicated but not that hard...I did simplify it a little bit, using one layer of thicker metal rather than doubling up everything like the factory did.

Re: Am I the only one having problems with replacement items

It is even the big boys having problems...Bought a drivers side door pillar patch for a 61 from DC, only guys who stocked it.....it took three tries to get the correct side, as the parts were misbagged at DC. That is even with a long phone call to the returns department and the guy there admitted he...

Re: What are usual prices for used sheet metal nowadays??

Rich, Thanks for your post.. that is just the sort of info I was seeking. I could tell you a good used Jeep tub sells for $750 and up, Jeep fenders are $50 plus all day long at the swap meet, and motors can be bought in running shape for $250 and up, but I am not in tune with the Slick 60 stuff and ...

I know and understand where Tom as a reseller is coming from but I was looking for what you guys are currently paying now at junkyards and from private people at meets and off Craigs and the bay......Tom is providing one stop shopping and we can't afford that luxury right now. I have some parts to s...

What are usual prices for used sheet metal nowadays??

I recently contacted a vendor about some parts I was thinking about replacing...I had a feeling he was asking top market prices after reading his reply.. What would a typical price for a fairly complete cab with no doors with minimal or no rust be nowadays? I used to buy western cabs in NM and AZ ju...

Hey are the ends of that radiator support any good? Do these guys ship? That is exactly the part I need to repair a 66 support we are trying to save!

Great yard to wander around in just to see the trucks.. I love it!

Re: What did I get myself in to now? One piece at a time 64-

Yes, and if I could find a 66 cab in the shape this one is in, I'd gladly trade it out...With it being a dry Oklahoma truck all its life there is very little rust in the floors and braces underneath an only the typical outer skin repair needed to one rear cab corner. The steering column issue is the...

Re: What did I get myself in to now? One piece at a time 64-

Just an update on this project.....Unfortunately the truck got away from us unloading it off a trailer and it ended up injuring its owner badly. It is on indefinite hold. Lessons were learned but at a great cost. Before the accident another complete and running 66 was bought off Ebay, which was not ...

Clutch flywheel mismatched bolt pattern...300 six.

I'm working on my buddies new 66 styleside trying to get it ready for him to go for a ride in when he gets out of rehab...BUT, I have run into a slight issue. The original flywheel out of the truck fits the new clutch he had bought for the 64/66 project that is now halted....However, we already had ...

Re: Dear Honda

That is darn good for a Ranger....no AC? There is definitely something to be said for simple, non gadgeted up machines....Honda and all the 70's small cars knew that but unfortunately ever one fell to the bigger is better mantra and more stuff got added to every package... Anyone ever drive a Datsun...

Re: cabs. will it fit ?

Still working on installing the 62-4 cab correctly on the blasted and painted 66 frame we got with the project truck.. We are using the front mounts from the 62-4 that are installed on the 66 frame, the 66 mounts are gone now. Biggest problem is making the power steering and steering column mate, an...

Re: Tire slasher.

By the way, if you are using the tires for storage only you may be able to patch the sidewall punctures satisfactorily with a normal patch.....if it is the usual knife blade insertion. Most tire places won't touch sidewall damage anymore but it may be possible at an older shop to explain the tires a...

Re: Source for front clip fender nuts and bolts

Where are you getting them from and what price are you paying?? THe local CARQUEST wants a fortune for the two and three packs, works out to over $2 per bolt in some cases by the time you pay tax.

Re: Source for front clip fender nuts and bolts

What was the original setup? Our project already had those fasteners in the fenders.. Lots of missing hardware that is being replaced with plain nuts and bolts with washers for now where it is accessible, but I can't see any other way to bolt the fenders..

Re: Source for front clip fender nuts and bolts

If you are talking about the clipped in nuts that go on the fenders where they bolt to the cab, I just got some from my local Car Quest.... They had a display of Au-ve-co body hardware...Part numberAP5711 is 5/16-18 x 1 body bolts and AP10053 and AP 8814 are 5/16 -18 extruded U nuts that should work.
