Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

It's been awhile, I've managed to get a few things done to her , still have a lot left to do, but you get the idea. Looking forward to getting an altitude adjustment made on her and get a little lower to the ground http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p396/Telford001/IMG_3270_zps97p0dj6h.jpg http://i3...

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

Having done this swap I am so happy that I did. There were a few times when I almost didn't do it; today I couldn't be happier. It was really fairly simple and economical. I get lots of compliments and I enjoy driving it when I can. I have the seat out being redone, but haven't got much else done. I...

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

Finally I was able to get it out on the road. First of all like everyone says, it rides like a dream. I thought for a minute that I might loose the truck feel. Fortunately it still feels like a truck, just handles better. I was also told it would feel under powered. I don't feel that way at all! I h...

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

Finally feel like I'm getting some place. Lucked out and found a new intake at pick and pull that was awesome, updated, I doubt it had been on the car very long. The thermostat looked brand new. A buddy stopped by, got the doors on and some electrical done. Feeling a lot better today. http://i42.pho...

Yes, in the front and on the back, it is really not that hard, but a PITA!

All was going so well, then this happened http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/Trio01234/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsblliyh0s.jpg h orangeRcode, not much done on the interior so far, it's pretty much the same. I will be working on gauges and a few other things once I get the intake and wiring done.

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

I was pretty happy with everything when I got the crown Vic tore apart. There are issues but you can tell it was well taken care of. I was also really happy with the slick. Both rigs were in really great shape. The body work on the slick is going to be a chore, but I've seen worse, a lot worse

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

Well I'm getting closer, was able to give it a little test spin around the block just because it needed it. I am done with school this week, hope to get the truck buttoned up next week and take it out and give it a good shake down. Was surprised how different it felt just going around the block. I'm...

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

Nothing more than a little bit of progress going on this weekend. I had one of my sons helping me build a frame bracket out of some 1" angel iron and pushed it up a little higher to insure I have enough clearance for when the bags are in place . It's getting closer, I hope to be rolling in the ...

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

The P71 platform is not equipped with the PATs software. From all of the research I have done the only way to bypass the PATs system is to reprogram your PCM. This could get pricy from what I understand. From what I can gather my issue is coming from the module not picking up the signal from the tra...

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

Im getting closer, installed the pushbutton start and accessories switches. I thought I took great care in making sure I wouldn't have any problems with the PATs system. Turns out I was wrong, all I get is a blinking light. Oh well, guess it's time for that p71 computer. http://i42.photobucket.com/a...

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

Thanks Marcfridge Made some progress today, I ended up getting the frontend mocked up a little bit today, I wanted to see how things lined up, and what it is going to look like. Obviously I am going to need a new radiator support, this one is beyond repair. I got the throttle setup, and the booster ...

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

Progress is slow, everything takes 3 times as long as it should. I had a bunch of photos but the iphone took a dive so I lost a bunch of my front mock up picks. I am using the existing cab mounts and will be fabricating mounts on the Crown Vic to fit the way I want. I really liked how the front of t...

Re: Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Hors

I decided to take advantage of the nice weather were having here in Utah and do a little pre-Chistmas "unwrapping". Had a good friend drop by with his son and help me get it done. It progress, gearing up for a big week ahead of getting a bunch of work done. I'm guessing it will end up bein...

Another Crown Vic/Slick chassis swap. Project "Dark Horse"

Alright, here goes another Crown Vic chassis swap. The donor vehicle is a 98 Crown vic. I picked it up for a song. Had a few issues, but nothing that I was going to use, or that wasn't an easy fix. Its your basic LX vic, previous owner was an old lady, the 4.6 is still running strong, I took my boys...

Newbies 66

I figured I should stop lurking and Introduce myself. As a kid my dad had 66 Step side and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Over the years I have had several projects, most of my experience comes in the way of off-road Jeeps. I always enjoyed building them, especially the fabrication aspects...
