Re: FYI ON 223 CARB.
Acting on advice in this very thread, I went to eBay, found the carb, shot them an offer of $200 and installed the carb on my 223 about two weeks later. Only adjustment it needed was to increase the idle speed a little. Nice product, easy switch-out. Solved a whole category of problems and potential...

Re: Rocker oil inlet and outlet tubes
Update and an FYI: In case anybody runs into the same issue - I couldn't find the tubes anywhere! They are out of production and there is no old stock, even though a couple places indicate they have a few. I found an identical engine (223) within driving distance so I bought it and a Borg-Warner T98...

Rocker oil inlet and outlet tubes
I am looking for the two rocker oil tubes for a 1963 223. The ford part numbers are C1AE 5580-B and 5588-B. The parts are obsolete and I have checked Kama and Dennis Carpenter where it was indicated that several are available but they did not have any left. They were gunked up and bent and the O-rin...

Re: Would you drive a 223 to Kansas?
I have neither technical nor sage advice, but as a fellow owner/driver of a 223, I am dang sure interested to hear how it goes! I hope you will consider documenting the adventure and sharing it here on the forum. Good luck and Godspeed!

Re: Help with new ignition switch
I had the exact problem with the exact switch and wiring kit! I would have to pull my switch to help me remember what I did BUT the solution I found was very simple. I called the guy at Rebel and he walked me through it in no time! They have a ford specialist and he fixed me right up. Their tech sup...

Re: Diagnosis? Help!?
Starter is oem. Alternator is internally regulated delco (3 wire)
Btw - if it means anything - when I pulled the starter out this morning the drive gear was pulled close to the starter which I think is "engaged" with this motor/starter combo

Re: Diagnosis? Help!?
Thanks for the reply! Fried alternator berring? This might be a stupid question, but how tight should the belt be? I think I had it fairly tight btw - I hope that's not the problem. How do I check to see if the berring is bad now?

Diagnosis? Help!?
1963 223 started easily in shop but started noticing "growl" when I killed it - I'm by myself so I couldn't be sure but I think it was coming from starter. Checked and re secured grounds, growl at kill stopped. Got in truck to move it home and about a half mile down the road it started mak...

Re: Here goes!
Mission accomplished! The complete rewire only took a couple days and a couple calls to the very helpful techs at Rebel Wire. As noted, I'm no rocket surgeon when it comes to anything mechanical or electrical and this rewire was easy and fun! I can't say enough good about the Rebel Wire 9+3 harness ...

Re: Here goes!
I'm using a Rebel Wire 9 + 3. It's marked every 6 inches or so and has the circuits pre-wired as well as the fuse box. My fear arises primarily from my lack of basic skills and experience. I'm going to start by running the rear section. That seems to be the simplest part, followed by the cab, then t...

Ok - somebody tell me I'm not crazy. Give me a pep talk. Boost my confidence! I'm about to get this rewire underway and I admit I am scared. I've never done anything remotely related to a project of this magnitude! Here's a couple pics. If anybody sees me starting out wrong, stop me! http://i1352.ph...

Re: wire harness
I just bought the 9+3 Rebel Wiring kit and from what I've read that will be more than enough for a standard build/restore. No electric windows, locks, fan - none of that fancy girly stuff - will provide for tunes in the glove box or under the seat as well. I will be installing soon so if you aren't ...
