No, I don't have flow under the cab. Thanks for clarifying.
I'm not familiar with welding cast but I think I might need to just buy a new manifold here.

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
Thanks Bruce! Even with the cap off it is not flowing. Is it designed to be gravity fed to the mechanical pump? I'm perplexed because the line out of the tank comes from the top of the tank.

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
Guys I've a question about the fuel system. I've got almost 3/4 of a tank & when I undo the fuel line right below the fuel pump (new, mechanical that is the same as the 223) is comes out for a bit then stops? Curious as I thought it would be gravity fed fuel going to the pump. Or is it suppose t...

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
Got the 262 running & it sounds great, at this stage of the game. It's hitting nicely on all six cylinders & after the new valve cover, water pump, fuel pump seals it's not leaking anywhere yet. I do have an exhaust manifold leak. I'm going to swap the 223 manifold setup in for it. Few thing...

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
Okay, I've got spark after changing the coil positive wire to the quick disconnect. :D Typical me fashion. When I initially didn't get spark I swapped the cable with an unproven cable that came from the 262 truck. I suspect I had either bad points or grounds which I resolved through my trouble shoot...

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
After verifying good chassis and engine grounds, with trans in neutral and emergency brake set, try a jumper wire from battery to + side of coil. If it starts , be prepared to pull the jumper in case it decides to remain running. If this actually shows signs of starting, check for voltage at relay ...

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
My coil does not have a B or a D. So is B positive & D negative? I'm pretty sure it is. I've narrowed down the problem to the primary circuit. The following tests were successful: 1) Battery to Coil test 2) Ignition Switch test 3) Resistance Wire test 4) Coil to Ground test What failed was: Star...

The other very basic question I have is my could doesn't have + & - it has a D & B ... Not sure which is which.

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
Thanks a lot guys, I regret my post in that I didn't have my shop manual with me. I'm not the most astute mechanic in the first place (I operate flying machines for a living) but after the long day of the engine swap I was particularly thick & frustrated with the no spark situation. So I stopped...

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
Thanks,
The 262 is in & I can't get any spark. New points, coil, plugs & wires. The distributor has a different shaft from the 223.
Should I start disassembling the distributors to swap parts?

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
So it has been awhile but I'm about ready to drop the 262 in. I've changed the bell housing & will bolt up the light duty 3 speed. Do you good folks think the transmission will be okay behind the 'big six'? I think the term 'rear seal' is interchangeable in the manual with 'upper crank seal' &am...

Re: Need help with 64 wiper switch wiring
I was able to resolve the problem without locating the circuit breaker. The switch was worn out & dirty. I disassembled cleaned and rebent some tabs. Works good now. Waiting for rain now
Curious as to this circuit breaker location still.

Re: Need help with 64 wiper switch wiring
Hey all, Instead of starting a new theard I thought I'd bring back a different one on the same subject. Maybe that's annoying. Atleast I searched for my answer before posting though. My wipers on my 1963 quit working. It's a single speed electric system. I did the test to the plug that goes to the w...

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
I've got the 262 out & on the engine stand. I've got a four speed with an auxillary PTO to sell as I'm goi to use my light duty three speed. I put a 3.0 centre section in & the 223 doesn't have enough power for it, looking forward to getting the 262 in. I'm going to replace the frost plugs &...

Centre caps with gear & lightning
It's come time to sand blast & powder coat the orignial wheels & bumper of my slick. Ive looked at a healthy selection of the different remanufacters - I'm looking for a chrome center cap that has the gear & lightning stamped & painted. Is this an option or am I dreaming this up? Any...

Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
Thanks for the comments on the paint. It all adhered propertly so I'm happy as long as it last for the long run. Few waves here & there but it is not a show truck. Didn't get done all that I wanted to on these days off. Had to go hiking in the mountains because of the warm forecast. I did get th...

My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant
Hello all, I recently got my truck together & on the road. I didn't do much mechanical to it & it was my first time doing autobody. It is a 63' & I put a 64 box on it after cutting 7 inches out of the front. It's the original color Ming Green paint code TT. The 223 in it burns a lot of o...

Re: Synthetic GEAR oil SAE 75W-90
Thanks, I'll track down some SAE 30 or maybe 50 synthetic engine oil for the tranny tomorrow. I'm guessing the gear oil I put in has detergent. Here is what the shop manual states: For manual transmisson: Engine Oil (MIL-L-2104-A) SAE 50 or Straight Mineral Oil Gear Lubricant (with no EP additives) ...
