Re: truck "wanders" when driving
Are you sure they aligned it correctly? The reason my truck wandered so much when I got it was the front tires were toed out, pretty bad. I made them parallel and it wasn't that great either. I added just a little toe in and positive camber via a small shim and the truck handles great now. Now, my t...

Re: headliner
I was going to post a new thread about my headliner. I just have to say that I'm very frustrated with the cardboard kit I got. I thought I was being very careful putting it in, soaking with water as I went, but I'll be damned if that long skinny piece didn't crack in half around the hole for the lig...

Re: Wheel spacer install with stock wheels (photos)
By adding the 1.25" spacers, did you had to go to longer lug studs or not? :dontknow: By using the spacers and extending the wheels outward, doesn't that in effect add to the wheel offset and put added stress on the wheel bearings? :dontknow: BarnieTrk  Sorry for the late response. I'...

Re: rear end pinion angle shims
What angle shim have you guys used with 2" drop shackles on the rear end of your truck? old.gif The best way to tell is to just measure the angle of the trans tail shaft and make the rear pinion match that angle(equal and opposite). Your truck may be different due to the condition of the sprin...

Re: Division Bar Redo..
You can buy window channel felt from glass shops that is made to do this, instead of makeshift material. Johnny I bet the velcro works just as well and probably is still cheaper http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Glass-Run-Channel,47812.html?sku=91001930&utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=CSEGoogle&u...

you could also just skip the line wrench and carefully use a standard open end wrench. I did.

Wheel spacer install with stock wheels (photos)
So after by drop axle and disc brake install, I wasn't real happy with the stance of the truck. I want to keep the old school wheel look with the bottle caps and skinnier tires (for now) but didn't like how narrow it looked. I ordered some 1.25" wheel spacers and here is how she turned out. The...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project
Old air holes welded up...new holes drilled...tires mounted and I took my first ride this afternoon....AND IT WAS AWESOME! The truck feels totally different with discs on the front (as far as braking.) A good different... I would definitely recommend this upgrade to everyone. Power boosters are oka...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project
And btw for those who were wondering about my brake switch, which WAS on the old master, several months ago I mounted a brake switch under the dash that is activated by the brake pedal. I don't think I had covered that on here. Those pressure switches can go bad without you knowing it...don't ask m...

Re: Suspension and brakes upgrade: I've been busy.
Okay...I apologize for saying "that's a full day's work." I've been installing discs on my truck for two days now and still not finished. Those nuts and bolts that have not been molested for some 50+ years are hard to break loose. Brake line fittings...forget it. I broke the brake line ju...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project
Hot, humid and muggy...temps around 90 degrees. That makes it perfect to pull the truck under the carport and start on the disc brake conversion... http://i1308.photobucket.com/albums/s602/Stevecanup/DSCN2571_zpssw0bv1xu.jpg I had reversed my wheels and today I realized that I will need to move the...

OH, I see it now. I was noticing the different mounting when you took photos of the exposed crankshaft. Good solution.

I ordered the sway bar from G.W.C. Distributors Inc (ebay) "Suspension Stabilizer Bar Front Dorman 927-194 fits 75-79 Ford F-150" Item #391058718757 - $119.12 + 9.95 shipping = $129.07. Sorry, one more... where did you find the "stepped" i-beam mounts? It looks like you upgraded...

Re: Suspension and brakes upgrade: I've been busy.
I found the shackle kit on ebay and it was for '65-70ish Ford F-100. I did have to grind a tiny bit off of the bushing to get it into the rear hanger as it was a little wide. For the wheels I took my 4 1/2 inch grinder and removed the rivet heads, took a punch and beat the rest of the rivet out. It...

Re: Suspension and brakes upgrade: I've been busy.
What rear shackle did you use? I can't seem to find one for a 64. When you flipped the wheel center did you knock out the rivets, plug weld the holes, then weld a bead along the rest of the back edge?
What sway bar kit did you use too?

Re: Suspension and brakes upgrade: I've been busy.
Hey Steve, when you flipped the front shackles, did it interfere with the bed? It looks like you did it without ever removing the spring and then used three of the four stock holes. Right? Also, I like the rear shackle idea but don't want to cut away my bed.

Re: Suspension and brakes upgrade: I've been busy.
Holly100...I just ordered the same disc brake conversion kit last night from Speedway for my '64. Their price can't be beat and my kit will be here day after tomorrow :D . I took the time to price the individual parts and the Speedway kit is almost $100 cheaper than 'scrounging' the parts together....
