I've been watching your build. Good looking truck. I really like the light green paint.

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade
I like that Bronco II/Ranger story! I drove a gov owned Kcar about 20 years ago. Strangest thing I've ever seen. Driver's seat had a regular, manual shoulder seat belt. Passenger side front seat had one of those automatic belts that retracted when the door opened along a track up and over the door o...

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade
Reinstalled the wiper motor, put arms and blades back on. Connected wiring. If you turn the switch off while the wipers are going up, they cycle to full up and stop. If you turn the switch off while they are headed down, they stop immediately. Can the wiper arm be 180° out of phase of does it have s...

Here's a picture of the garage with the trees the Grinch brought. https://i.ibb.co/zmhSF7Z/IMG-20201205-075936486.jpg In between some other chores today I pulled the wiper motor from the truck. https://i.ibb.co/F6DL0d3/IMG-20210117-142533747.jpg It was pulled from a donor truck that had a 65 griile,...

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade
Happy new year to everyone. The Grinch came a couple weeks before Christmas. He brought down two red oak trees right through the apex of the garage roof. Garage a total loss, as well as some items inide. On the bright side, the Slick was not in one of the garage bays, nor parked in front, so it surv...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project
That's interesting. I was expecting you to tell us it tucked right under. On the 65 4x4 I've been wrenching on, I swapped under the same rear axle, a Dana 44, from a late 70's 2wd f100 so I could use an e-locker for off road. I've got factory Bullet style aluminum wheels from a later model F150 and ...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project
Can you set up the dial indicator on the opposite end of the driveshaft at the rear axle and see if you get a comparable reading? Not sure, but might indicate if the drive shaft tube is just slightly out of true round along it's whole length? Is there a thick area on the shaft that accounts for the ...

Hen's Teeth
Hey everyone, I'm searching for a Mallory distributor for a 240 or 300 Ford that has the mechanical tach drive on the distributor. I know they made them at one time, but don't have a part number or a picture of this elusive critter. Thanks for searching your parts bin, old parts trucks, or anywhere ...

Shipwrecked is looking good! Hope you can overcome the engine knock soon. I like the hood kit, would you recommend it for others?

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade
Bill, I've been watching your build. Wish I had the patience and skills to do the work you do. Old Smiley, I've been checking back to see if you've done more with your truck too. Today, I drove the 65 about 90 miles or so, the majority on the interstate. It pulled good, oil pressure great, temp gaug...

Re: Disabling your truck
I plumbed a manual cutoff valve in between the gas tank and the fuel pump. It's tucked up and out of sight. I have not used it yet, but since we have moved, when I'm out and about in the new surroundings and higher populations, I will be giving it a quick turn when the truck is unattended. I had als...

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade
The Coronavirus, work, and a move have been at the forefront of our life since my last post here. I've got about 250-260 miles on the truck now, mostly weekend runs to the trash dump. It seems to be settling in. A little spark knock under hard acceleration, probably need to back off on the timing a ...

Re: 65-72 Wheelbase info needed
When working on my 65, which had already had a frame cut/splice before I bought it, I though of another possible way to shorten the wheelbase. When I was working on the rear axle and getting it fastened back to the leaf springs, I had a choice with two different height spacer blocks between the spri...

Re: neutral safety switch
If you have a multimeter, you need to confirm that when your floor shifter is in park, you have continuity between the ends of the two wires you identified. Also make sure that the same two wires are open, when the shifter is in reverse, drive, 2,1. It may also show continuity when in neutral, I'm n...

What are your plans for the edges near the walls?
Are you going to form that up and pour a short knee wall?

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade
Late this afternoon, my helper and I bled the brakes again, a few bubbles at the driver front wheel, all others were fluid only. Still had soft pedal. Unbolted the booster rod from the brake pedal. No noticeable slop. Re-aligned the eccentric bolt and tried again, still soft. Unbolted the master cyl...

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade
Hey Bill. I tested the check valve today. Air moves one way, not toward the booster. I was hopeful that it would be something quick to fix, like swapping a bad check valve. Now we know its not the valve. I appreciate your idea to test it. My helper was busy today with other stuff so no brake bleed. ...
