Thanks so much. Yep, it appears rear leaf springs are backwards. As you can tell, I have never even restored a bicycle. But I am stubborn, so hopefully someday it will be driveable. Will try to post some pics someday soon.

drive shaft length after leaf spring replacement
Conducting a frame-off resto on my '61 stepside. After replacing the leaf springs, had to put a lot of down pressure on frame to get new shocks to bolt in. In trying to re-install the original drive shaft, the length is several inches too short even after extending the shaft from the universal joint...
