had an old retired mechanic tell me to remove my fan and install an electric fan and that would get me 3-5 more miles per gallon has any1 done this and was there that much of a gain or is it just a waste of time if only trying to get better mileage?

i seem to get an awfull lot of heat in my slick even with the heat off. it feels as if my heater is cranked on. my engine doesnt overheat, but the heater core does have a small leak. i dont think that has any thing to do with the heat though it so small i rarely see water just a faint smell of antif...
