Re: Pate Swap Meet

Hello all- This will be my first Pate visit. I know that I haven't been a regular but, I hope to meet a few of you now that I have (sort of) made the move from CA to North TX. I will come around and introduce myself. I accepted a position with Peterbilt Motors in Denton and hope to make No. TX home....

Re: 2015 Pate Swap Meet

Guys-
I will have to drop the shop shirt project for the time being; my wife and I have had some recent events that will require immediate attention. I will try to make the Pate Swap meet so that I can stop by and introduce myself.

Re: 2015 Pate Swap Meet

Truckrat- Thanks for the PM. Just so everyone else is in the loop, I will proceed in trying to find a local supplier, figure out color choices and determine whether small runs are feasible. It would be nice to have a few choices for everyone without causing the price to skyrocket. Usually shop shirt...

Re: 2015 Pate Swap Meet

Hey guys, Already have it on the calender. Being my first year out here, I wouldn't miss it. Speaking of signs, and being able to pick each other out of the crowd, I'd like to have some button down work/shop shirts silk screened. I remember seeing some stickers (developed by members) in the past but...

Re: Tremec TKO behind a 390

I changed from an FE/C6 combo to a 385 series/T56 combo a few years back. I realize that doesn't help you guys bellhousing/bolt pattern wise (I used a Lakewood Scatter shield) but, I will warn you, there are other things to consider. I ended up using a high dollar slave/throw out from McCleod that h...

Re: Master cylinder swap

2 wheel disc or 4 wheel? if 2 wheel, that should be fine. If 4 wheel, you will need to consider a 1 1/8" bore unit with similar size reservoir chambers (disc/drum set ups have one small and one large chamber). You could use a 4 wheel disc corvette style or go the Wilwood route if changing to 4 ...

Re: OK, Here it is

I've been checking in from time to time for several years now. Never could make it from N. CA for SS events. We are now living in the Tulsa area and look forward to attending our first SlickStock. Are they only held every 2 years; the next event is in 2016? That's a long time from now. Are there eve...

Y-block pics

Sorry, I don't have any photos. But, they are fairly distinctive. Depending on how torn down it is...The top of the block has a valley pan cover (2 bolts) below and separate from the intake manifold, the center intake ports on the heads are siamese, the distributor is in the back and the exhaust por...

Even cheaper and more mobile, would be a 3/4 PVC frame work with tarps. Painted buddy's PU that way. Didn't glue any of the joints and have stored for the next project..

ras4344- wish you could have gotten some pics of the roll and truck interior. Been doing this a long time and never have seen roll and truck interior. my bet is that the asking price was because of the interior.

I think that the Uni looking bed lines look cool on a two piece truck. I've never seen that before. I wouldn't mind having a stocker to compliment my uni.

If I might add my 2 cents worth gentleman, the "mini" starter that you are refering to is called a permanent magnet starter by Ford. The advanced materials and engineering allow for more torque, less amp draw and longer life. I ran high torque starters on my BBF's for many years but if one...

What do you mean by semi-lethal? I think that a good public stoning/caning would be great in this situation.

Yes sir. The 8.8 and the big tube (big bearing) 9" housings (found on 28 and 31 spline set-ups) have the same flange at the end of the tube. Direct bolt-on to the housing.

I don't know if it is possible to have too much braking power. Believe me, with a 545 cu in engine and full pro-street chassis I like to go fast...but it is even a better feeling to be able to stop it. Even with a I-6 or small V-8 under the hood; it is good to stop. Especially if it is a daily drive...

You know, I didn't metion that you will need a master cylinder for 4 wheel discs also. Roughly $39 from NAPA. You can get it from any vehicle as long as you have 1 1/8" bore. I used a 78 T-Bird w/ disc option. You DO NOT have to have power brakes on your truck to make this work.
